Default Yay! I finally got my Starmate Replay/Review

Yay! I finally got my Starmate Replay! I had been thinking about trying out Sirius ever since Dec and the starmate had been sold out near me ever since! Whenever they got back in a few at best buy/radio shack and other stores around me they always sold out before I came in! I didn't want to order online in case it was defective I didn't want to go through the hassle of sending it back etc. Anyway I went to best buy as soon as they opened and nearly ran to the back of the store! I saw the display and saw many starmates plus sportster replays. The guy said the last time they got some in they sold out immediately. I also got the best buy warranty because I'm no fool! I went to Radio shack where I returned my sirius one. The sirius is really cool but the starmate replay suits much better. I brough the ac/d adaptor 500 mAh (I'm only using it at home because I don't have a car plus I'm not spending the extra $ on a home kit right now) to see if it also would work with the starmate replay so the fella plugged it in for me like he did last time and yeah it powered up. It works great just like with the sirius one. Also unlike with the sirius one, it actually included the battery for the remote.

It was very easy to switch service from the sirius one to the starmate replay and I got service in seconds. I think the starmate is so cool looking and i Love that blue backlight! I found it very easy to figure out the functions. I immediately noticed that my reception is better with the starmate! Instead of 2-4 bars for the Sirius one, I now get 6-10 bars. I can finally see the artist and song and what the channel is all at once without having to the dsp button on the remote like I had to do with the sirius one. The artist/song memory thing is very cool and is not included on the sirius one either. The instant replay is very handy! I love how you can pause and come back to it a bit later! Since I don't listen for more then usually 15 minutes to one channel the ability to rewind songs does not do me that much good but is still a very cool feature. It erases the memory when you change the channel so that sucks. I'm always turning to my presets. I really like the starmate's design, it's not too big and I like the remote as well. I'm using the headphones at the moment which works well. I notice the sound definately sounds better on the starmate. I have not tried the fm transmitter yet but will later. The stand that comes with it is very nice! It's adjustable. I used the velcro strip that came with it, snapped the starmate into the mount and velcro'd it to the stand. Perfect! I found setting it up to be very easy but then again I don't have to go through setting it up in a car but for home use it's extremely easy to get started.

After giving it alot of thought I have decided to suspend my XM service for now. After hearing Sirius for a few days it was overwhelming obvious to me that I'm alot happier with sirius. XM is fantastic but sirius has that edge. Maybe I will get xm again in the future if they add channels or make changes on some.

I'm pretty happy with the starmate replay and I definately recommend it to anyone if you want to spend the extra $ There is a $20 rebate for it still. For people who don't want to spend $99 and want to try Sirius with a cheap reciever then you can't go wrong with the Sirius one for $49

That's cool.

I don't listen to my XM very much anymore. Only for the races and sometimes XM71 Watercolors.

My girlfriend listens a lot more to her XM then I do to mine.

Great to see you're happy with the service.

I received the Starmate Replay for Christmas, and I have to say that I am very happy with it (except for indoor reception problems). It fits nicely in the car with the new mount. (I have it mounted to the windshield so that it sits just above the center of the dash.) The reception is very good with the antenna mounted on the roof according to the directions. Every now and then, I get some slight interference on the FM transmitter, but that is where the Starmate is very cool because with a touch of one button you can change to your next clear frequency. (With other receivers I have had I had to go through a few menus to change the frequency, which was distracting and dangerous while driving.) I haven't used the replay function much yet, but I am sure it will come in handy when I get a phone call on the cell phone. It isn't very bright out right now in the winter, but the display seems to work well in sunlight. I also like the jump button so that you can always jump to your favorite music/talk channel or traffic channel. The buttons are pretty intuitive on this unit, but be sure to read the manual for even more understanding of the options.

Wow. I didn't know that this was a function on the Starmate Replay. I installed an Wired FM Modulator in my truck, but in my car at home, I don't. That's cool. I wonder if the Streamer GTR has the same feature. Thank you for that info.
