I wish they would make something like this. They need to in order to compete with XM. The SP4 is about the same size as the Audiovox Xpress, so it can be done.

There's a dude who made a thing called the XSTAR and it is a portable battery pack that will attach to the AC in slot. It is in a little fanny pack and really does work well. You attach the antenna and wrap it around the bag or whatever. Add batteries and away you go; live Satellite Radio.

He sells them on ebay and here is a link to one:

You would have to carry around that black case everywhere though right? And would it be compatible with the SP4?

It wouldn't be portable then.

you would have to have speakers as well. That bag looks like a 50's medical bag.

Hi. I'm 'the dude' per an earlier post, that developed and sell xstar. I haven't tested with Sportster4 yet. But, I'm sure it will work fine. I believe that radio is a 5 volt radio, so it would run with only 4 AA or AAA batteries. And, no external speakers needed. You just plug in headphones.
As far as the xstar case, it's actually pretty small. We're now using Case Logic brand cases which are sold at most retail stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, etc, and are used mainly for small digital cameras. We have many xstar products to meet just about every customer's needs: we have one version which is very basic and sells for $29. Higher end systems (with charger, small antenna, etc) sell for $59 to $99. Hope this answers some of the questions.
We're on ebay and our ebay store is at www.xstar4xmsirius.com
thanks. have a good day.

Headphones plug into the radio directly, or if the radio is of they type that has to be plugged into a dock/cradle, then headphones will plug into the dock/cradle device. For example, Starmate and Starmate Replay don't use a dock, and headphones plug direct to the side of the radio. Sportster uses a cradle, so it plugs into the cradle. It's very simple but effective setup with XSTAR.
