Default "sirius-ready" car stereo - now what?

Hi all,

We have a sirius-ready Bose stereo system in our 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. Do we need any further equipment installed (antenna?) before we can subscribe and listen?

Thanks - I found a lot of great info on this forum, but nothing that spelled this out.

I think in order to use the nissan radio unit you need to pick up the nissan sirius receiver that mounts in the trunk. When I went to look at altimas the other day, they had the bose amp and the sirius unit next to each other. Did it come with the antenna already mounted? If not you have to add an antenna. The sigma is working good for me and since it is on the inside windshield no need to have it outside.

I don't believe there is a direct tuner for a factory bose system. The car likely had sirius when it was new. The vehicle should be ready with an antenna installed, you'll just need to re-activate it.

Can you select "Sirius" on the radio? If you can, what do you see on the display?

Thanks for the replies so far - we bought the car new w/ the sirius-ready radio, but not installed. I called the local Nissan dealership and they were not sure either - they did say there was a receiver for the 2006 Pathfinder....for $400 including installation. But, he couldn't tell me how to determine whether the receiver and antenna are there all ready.
