Default Alpine CDA-9857 + SIR-ALP1 Text Scrolling

I understand that there's a 16 character limit with Alpine's Sirius tuners but I was wondering if the text actually scrolls? I wouldn't mind this limit so much if text scrolling would allow me to, eventually, see the whole song title. After all, my Sirius Sportster Replay has a character limit too, but the text scrolling makes up for it.

I did a few searches here but all I could come up with are inconclusive answers: some people say it works fine, some say it scrolls but all the text that scrolls is (pointlessly) blank. Does anyone have a definite answer for this?

Hello,

I have this unit....the text will scroll, but there is still the 16 limit....however, it should be noted, that when using an ipod, it will display the entire text...hence the limitation is strictly the antenna....I am even using a kenwood SIR 1 with my alpine.....the only antenna I have ever heard of that has no limitation is for JVC...do a search, DAB has posted his review of a JVC receiver

Thanks for the reply! I'm pretty much stuck with Alpine because I want to keep the steering wheel controls on my car and Alpine is one of the few companies to offer a real hardwired, delay free, adapter for it. This definitely puts my mind at ease.

If it’s the same limit as MP3 titles then it’s not that bad. I mean who really wants to wait 5 second to read a long title? I have the 9830 and will add the SIR-1 to it for Christmas.

BTW How’s the sound quality?
