Default 2004 Envoy Sirius SIR GM1 install

I have a 2004 Envoy with the GM "joystick" (non-touch screen) Navigation unit. My truck didnt have XM from the factory. But I do have Class 2 data bus and my GM Nav. radio is satellite radio ready so Im positive the SIR GM-1 kit will work for me.
Basically I'd be installing the SIR GM-1 from scratch. Im assuming I:

1.) Buy SIR Gm-1 kit
2.) Install module, run wiring harnesses, mount antenna
3.) Turn on my radio and the "satellite radio ready" portion of it will pick up the Sirius signal? (Provided I've activated it)?

Is that all there is to it?

That sounds about right to me, MEB.

Running the antenna will probably be the hardest part. Check the forum out for other installs. It's a great way to get ideas and instructions and see how other people did theirs.

If you want, post some pics of your install.

Good luck!

Update: My SIR-GM1 has taken a ca-ca. After about 4 months of use, it started saying "no signal". I replaced the antenna. It worked for a few mins and then started saying no signal again. Went and exchanged the antenna for another new one. Did the same thing and Im back to "no signal".

I think my receiver module went bad. Any suggestions?

The SIR-GM1 is pretty much self-contained. "No Signal" pretty much limits the problem to the antenna or tuner.

Was the message "No Antenna Detected" or "Acquiring Signal"?

Prepare yourself to deal with warranty repair.
