Default Newby needs radio help

I've decided on Sirius over XM but need hardware help--appreciate any recommendations.

I want to use radio in car primarily and probably prefer display larger than portables (S50, stiletto). I may also use at home from time to time.

I do want something easy to mount without any 'permanent' mounting but as unobtrusive as possible. I would also prefer to use cassette tape rather than fm transmitter or hardwiring.

I just bought a Starmate replay for free (after rebate + $30 for home kit) but not sure if it would be better to stick with it or spend more and get one of the newer models that might be thinner, have more features, better displays, more dependable, etc.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

The stamate replay is a good radio as long as you don't plan on moving it from car to house a lot....I (and others) have had issues with the connections coming loose with repeated pluging and unpluging....if you leave it in one place it should be fine. If your interested in a new radio on option might be the sportster 3. It has a large display and also has the new universal docking option....the whole sportster line of radios has large display
Will have a lot of choices if you decide on a new radio....good luck!

I agree with most of what siriusurfer said. But I would actually recommend either the Starmate 4 or Sportster 4. They both offer the replay function, which neither of the "3 series" of the Starmate's or Sporster's offer. I personally love the replay option, there have been a number of mornings I've missed the start of Howard Stern, and have to rewind it to hear what was said. Plus the newer receivers run on a 5 volt power supply, which runs noticeably cooler, which in turn will help lengthen the life of the tuner. I have the Starmate Replay myself, but if I had to get another one, it would definitely be a Starmate 4. Unless of course I got a screaming deal on a Stilleto..
