Default Starbase question

I have a question about the Starbase FM Modulator module. When listening to a station, and displaying the song/title, does pressing the + or - button always cause it to tune to the next station, or does the auto-tune setting affect this as well. The manual says that the auto-tune affects list modes, but I need to know if it works this way when just scrolling though channels. I have a XM Commander which looks almost just like the Starbase, but my wife wont let me get rid of XM until I find something from Sirius that works the same way. On the commander, we can be listening to something and scroll though all the channels looking for something else, without it tuning to the new channel until we press the select button. Can the starbase work like this?

Yes you can use the look ahead feature on the Starbase. Just like on the XM Commander. Be prepared for a much better display. The one on the Commander had a lot to be desired. It will also not change channels until you actully hit the enter button on the unit or remote.

On the Starbase, + and - will simply tune to the next channel. < and > will give you a scrollable list of channels while you're listening to the currently tuned channel. You can choose whether you want the Starbase to automatically tune to the channel you highlight in this mode or not. By default, it doesn't tune to the highlighted channel, so you have to press the Select button to change channels.

But you can make it tune to the highlighted channel without having to press the Select button by turning "Auto Select" to On in the Setup menu. See p. 21 in the manual. (Sounds like you don't want to use this feature.)

Just wanted to throw in my opinion that the Starbase is the best Sirius car receiver ever! get it, you'll like it!

Like the other have said, the left and right "category" buttons will let you do what you are asking about. I have only messed with that feature once or twice and it almost caused me to wreck my truck.
