Default i got a Starmate with the boombox package for Xmas: Q

should i brace myself for a huge fall/breakage in 4 months: is this thing gonna stop working for no reason? I'm browsing these forums and getting a little nervous, i already opened the thing and i can't really bring it back for another radio.

also, is there anything i can do to increase the longevity of the machine?

I'll repost what I said in the other topic you have just in case you missed it/forgot.

I have gone through two, HOWEVER, the first one broke only due to bad placement in the car on my part. The suction cup wasnt secured, and it took a fall to the ground, cracking the screen. I coldnt read anything, but it played fine and everything else was functional. Sirius sent me a replacement about 2 months ago and all is fine.

In total, between the two, I owned a starmate replay since May. Aside from my screen cracking due to my own fault, all is great with the replay.

It survived 100+ degree weather in the sun in the car, and below zero now in the winter, and still works perfect. I recently got a wired fm modulator for it and the sound is great.

As long as you don't let it hit any solid object on the screen like I did, it should hold up perfectly fine. It's a great reciever.

Default Just be kind

To the the radio and boombox. I can't say it's the best equipment I have ever bought, but have had the replay for a year now, and no problems except for some installation guys breaking it for me, which I fixed. Have had the boom box for 8 months, no probs yet.

I'm just careful with my gear, and don't unplug an inordinate amout of times. I think that's all you can do.
