In my opinion, you give them much more credit than they deserve by calling them pro-installers. I have a good friend that owns a car audio shop. I can tell you, he would have installed it for you without a doubt. In fact I had him read this thread and said, you shouldn't judge all installers by the likes of the idiots you've encounterd in your local area. He also told me he has already put new head units, along with SIRIUS and XM in 2007 model vehicles. While I am sure others may have the same experience as you, I am sure many more will have installs done with no issue, in fact many will do self installs. But I doubt if half of them will be return as you indicate in your OP, considering you didn't return yours.

I had one of those FM add-ons, until I could afford an AM/FM/Cassette and speakers. Bolted under the dash, connected in the antenna line.

The good thing "BACK IN MY DAY" was that the underside of the dash was WAY open, and you could just reach up and grab the plug.
