I looked in to the new Starmates and Sportsters. (Both the 3 and 4 versions)...

The Starmate 4 and Sportster 4 have identical abilities and functions.

The Starmate is a bit cheaper. It's a bit smaller too which could make it easier to mount. (The case height is 1/2 inch less than the Sportster, but it's slightly wider).

The Sportster has a larger display and a rotary knob to scroll through the channels or menu selections. (Starmate scrolling is done with rubber pushbuttons).

They both fit in the same docks and use the same power plugs and boom box.. That's about all I can think of

Also, the 3's do not have the replay function. The 4's do.

Default I Chose Starmate....

I like the pushbuttons, instead of the rotary dial, because I'm hoping to make this work on my motorcycle, with my gloves on, some day.

Starmate 4 works well easy to navigate and feels solid. I prefer it to the dial as it seems like a weak point. Used it for 800 mile trip and it was clear as a bell using the built in fm tunner. On the Starmate 4 it came with a fm out plug in antenna and was wondering if the sportster 4 came with one.
