Default Just got my new Sirius Sp4.. (Boombox rant)

I just got the Sportster4 for christmas and let me start off by saying, I love it. It works great in my car.

Although, I went out earlier this evening and I got the Universal Boombox with some of my xmas money and I must say I was VERY disappointed (I returned it an hour after I bought it). The reason why I bought this boombox is because I thought it would actually act AS a boombox, whereas I could carry it anywhere in my house, have it by my bed at night, and take it down to the kitchen in the morning. It didn't work that way at all, I was not expecting to have to have a 20' cord going to an antenna on my roof making it impossible to move around easy. Basically, I didn't feel that it was worth the $100 I spent when I can spend half that on the home kit OR listen to it for free on my computer.

I'm not sure exactly what you were expecting. Fact is, with satellite radio, the antenna has to be able to "see" the satellite. I got the universal boombox for xmas as well, I love it! So much louder than I thought it would be. Any idea how long this thing runs on battery power?

I got one for Christmas also and am pleased with it's preformance it does exactly what I expected it to do with the Antenna sitting in the window in any room I want to be in as long as I face it the right direction.

The manual said a set of fresh batteries would last 8 Hours.

So if you intend to use it on battery power a lot you better buy rechargeables, or have Stock in a Battery Company.

The only thing I was not expecting with the Unit is that the FM Modulator does not work when in the Boom Box, therefore you can not transmit to another FM Radio in the house.

For the FM Modulator to work you have to buy the Home Kit but you would still have to have the Home Kit Antenna be able to see the sky.

Right. My point is, why spend $100 on the boombox when I can spend $50 on the home kit and use the radio with my surround sound or something better than the boombox speakers? Because I still have to run an antenna outside.

Or better yet, use the audio out on my laptop and just use the internet Sirius on the better speakers.

I for one enjoy spending time outside. I am not going to be cranking up my home stereo or moving my computer outside! Plus, I plan on taking my boombox to work because I can't stream. It isn't for everyone, but suits my needs perfectly!
