For anyone that is new to satellite radio and has limited or no knowledge of modulators, etc. the ads for the plug & plays are misleading in that they don't say if you use the fm transmitter you'll experience static and interference. I bought the replay because of the fm transmitter - I didn't want to have it hardwired. In my case I was lucky in that the transmitter works great - no static at all - when I can actually get a signal... Obviously it can work so it's not too much for people to expect it to.

What is your point? That I simply agreed with the op and you are just being provocative?

What have you added to this thread? That prevoius units were out of compliance with FCC rules which somehow is an excuse for current in compliance units to have unusable modulators? (without buying more hardware and having to either take your car apart or pay to have it done?) That Sirius has poor cs?

What am I missing? Please enlighten me.

Sirius is definitely addressing this issue in their current products. I just got an InV and on the box it says in several places "For best performance professional installation is recommended". There is literature in the box with the advisory "Direct connection provides better audio performance than a wireless connection and removes the possibility of interference from local FM broadcasters".

I can't say I totally disagree with that. I think if SIRIUS could have its way the FM Trans would be much stronger, but they are as strong as the FCC will allow. Recently with newer tuners such as the Stiletto they have included for free the additional means to get better reception because they know they are weak. I know I got a free FM Relay.

I remember when I was brand new to Sat Radio (XM). I got my home setup and boy was in for a rude awakening. I hooked up my home antenna stuck it on my window seal and NOTHING.. no signal. I moved that thing all around and never could get a signal. I quickly learned that I had to get that antenna outside on my roof. That wasn't on the box, that wasn't in their advertisements either, but the extra effort was indeed necessary. Since then I have bought the person repeater with an outdoor antenna so that I could get the VERY BEST reception.

The bottom line is that these tuners do have an FM transmitter, but they are weak. If that means you have to buy something extra in order to get it to work at its peak, then that is what you have to do. Should it say that on the box and in their advertisements. I guess we could argue that they need to say you have to put up an outdoor antenna to get home reception to, but they don't. Sometimes you just have to make a bit of an effort. I wish it wasn't this way, but that is the way it is. Folks that buy these units that can't deal with this will bring them back. That isn't good for sat radio, but I know folks that have. But most folks I know generally have made the extra effort and are very glad they did. This however does not make them junk and I appreciate you staying clear of that nonsense.

Would you bow out now so that those that are actually interested in getting help or discussing this can do so.

I think the FM transmitters can be stronger, the ones that go on iPods are stronger. My belief is Sirius went lower than the requirements so there would be no risk of a further delay.

How am I keeping anyone from getting what they need? You are asking me to stop posting. Why would I be asked to refrain from posting when I am not harming anyone?

Why don't you answer my simple question? To refresh your memory:

What am I missing? Please enlighten me.

I will "bow out" but I must say I find your attitude very disturbing and I feel as a mod you had a responsibility to remain neutral which you did not live up to.

As an aside I emailed Sirius as their phone support leaves quite a bit to be desired and I told them that. Their reply? Call phone support.

You have a great night now.

The FCC was pointed to XM and Sirius by our friends at NPR and the NAB. They also complained about the iPod accessories, the CCrane model and others.

The NAB even suggested that the Satellite units in use with non-compliant modulators have the service disabled until the units are replaced.

I'm sure they won't rest until every FM modulator has been neutered completely.

That is exactly right, they had to push to get approval for their products from the FCC and many was worried some wouldn't even be approved by the holiday selling season. I am sure they were unable to be as proactive on those products lines already in production. Clearly with the newer released products they are being proactive and I think we'll see this as standard now on all their sat tuners.

Your questions were answered not only by me, but others, you just refuse to accept them.

Now you just keep repeating the same thing over and over, so my point is if that is all you've got, why not just bow out. Seems you've made your point several times, what more is there for you to say....

Thank you for telling me what you think my responsibility is on this forum.

You have a great night too!

Well I am going to sleep now, so someone else will have to carry the torch. SBS is alive and well!

You know what is strange is that I don't even disagree with some of the point made. But geez, make your point and then let it go.

did you take out the black stopper and plug in the FM anteanna wire? It works perfectly if you follow the instructions.

Thank you for trying to help. I appreciate your effort. Yes, I read the instructions and removed the stopper. Stopper in no output. Stopper out poor output.

I need to clear this up once and for all:

(1) to the others that just misunderstood and thought I was asking (over and over) with an attitude for help, thanks, I was not. I was responding to the same questions asked over and over by the end as if I were too stupid to master the rare art of water boiling.

(2) to Rusty farm implement you sir were condescending, attacking and just plain silly. If you read my posts you will see I was clearly not asking for anything.

I am not the OP. I did not have at the time this thread was posted an FM problem per se. I had figured out that the s50 as sold on December 18th 2006 to me by Sirius was under powered and therefore I bought and installed aux inputs in the two cars I have that needed them.

I was simply validating and being empathetic of the plight of the op.

I apologize if I came across as harping and complaining I was responding to the same question which as in Who's on first, when Costello jut does not grasp that the names are also pronouns and Abbott gets frustrated, I too got frustrated.

Thank you and good day.
