Default Very Dissapointed in my SIRIUS Purchase

I bought Sirius for my wife, and so far we are disgusted with the purchase,

I got her the Sirius Replay, which is supposed to be "Plug and play" and broadcast through a wirless transmiter to my FM radio. We spend so much time changing channels to hear get reception that it's almost laughable. She has had Sirius for a week, and listend for like 30 minuets.

I hear there is an FM Direct plug that I can buy, which will cost me $50.00 after instalation.

I think it's crappy that Sirius is passing this plug and play off as a "working product"....It's a peice of shit at best

Maybe it's your car manufacturer's fault for not providing the appropriate aux ports for satellite radio?

SOME cars have them. Why not yours? Why is it Sirius' fault when YOU don't have what's needed to get their product working?

Oh that's right, all cars are like computers, 100% compatible. Better throw away that metric wrench set.

I feel your pain. I have an S50 that forced me to connect it to the aux input because the FM output was a joke. I had the same experience: static no matter how close it was to the antenna (I tried it literally standing next to the antenna out the window of my truck)

Sirius "customer service" is a joke as is their executive level, I have left over THIRTY messages over the last two weeks on six different people's voicemail and the best I have gotten is a message (from two people)to call back and they will call back, problem is I am in Phoenix, go to work at 6:30am which is before they get there at 10:00 am New York time and I work until 3:30pm which is after they leave at 5:00 pm their time.

The 800 "service"# gave me an FCC# to call to get some piece of wire they claim will increase the FM output. What a sham.

Are you kidding? They market the FM output as functional. It is not. I also tried the FM through my 1000.00 Harman Kardon 635 home AV receiver literally on the antenna and STATIC.

The output of the FM is a joke, my Kenwood Here 2 Everywhere works from three carlengths away I have been in a rental that far from my wife in my car and can say this from experience.

Yeah and Paris Hilton is marketed as a musician. Please. If you participated in car audio in the past 20years you'd know that broadcasting the signal via FM is basic at best.

Been around for ever. No different here. You have to pay to get EVERYTHING installed in your car. You spend more on a tank of gas than it should cost to get this installed.

Once again, why are you not bitching about the $30000 automobile that's incompatible with a $100 product?

Just trying to make some sense out of this post.

Are you Sirius??? (get it?) these units are marketed as able to output to the FM radio of the car. older unnutered units do it fine. If as Sirius claims the FCC forced them to reduce the FM output of currently sold units then they need to say FM output requires additional components in some cases. They do not.

Addtionally the "customer service" people are rude to the extreme, I just got off the phone with Martin, a "manager" who asked me if I enabled the FM output after I told him the output was insufficient and became confrontational when I asked him if he had not heard me that I was getting output but that it had alot of static.

There is something very wrong with this and I am very close to killing my account, selling all three of my radios and going to XM.

I would not have anything to do with Paris Hilton and submit your analogy is faulty as the issue here is FM output on a device marketed as capable of said function. It does not work as shipped.
Additionally as I stated earlier older units (Kenwood here to anywhere & here 2 everywhere) in my possesion work just fine, the issue is the FCC has regulated the new units but Sirius sells tham as viable.

How long have you worked for Sirius?

Look man, I have many of these things and I live in an area where you get a different radio station depending on the direction I'm facing. It works as good as a FM transmitter will work which is not good at all.

You are complaining about a garbage technology not working to YOUR specifications when they are NOT EVEN CLOSE TO REALISTIC to what an FM transmitter is capable of providing.

Again, why aren't you complaining about your car not having the proper accessories to accept a Sirius radio that works with ANY universal product that fits YOUR SPECIFIC automobile.

Did you read what I said? My god I had it sitting on my 1000.00 HOME receiver's antenna and got static. HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOO.

These new units have been modified to output insuficient signal. My two and three year old Here 2 whatevers work fine for up tpo THREE carlengths.

My S50 does not work at all as an FM transmitter but was marketed as being able to.

No matter how much you or Sirius wants to pass the buck elsewhere if it does not work while touching the antenna of a home receiver that has a great FM unit than there is nowhere else to point the finger.

So what you are saying IN OPEN FORUM is that instead of spending $9.99 on a cable to directly connect your Sirius to the receiver (just like you have to do with everything else) you are relying on FM broadcast.

Yeah, ok. You are correct.

(ok how long before I inform him of the rubber plug on the back of the S50 that "disables" the broadcast and just needs to be removed to bypass the FCC regulations....ooops already did.)

On an open forum I am saying I was FORCED TO WIRE IT TO MY AUX IN
BECAUSE AFTER REMOVING THE RUBBER PLUG I GET INSUFFICEINT OUTPUT.

I wanted to be able to use it in both my vehicles without taking anything apart as I do my older, cheaper lesser Kenwood units.

I am so glad you get to show that in fact you are not so superior, while attempitng to look superior on an open forum.

I salute you captian penis envy!!!!!!!!!!

Keep fighting the good fight for quality FM transmission and I'll bring up the rear with my fight for a quality A/B switch so I can plug my PS3 into my B/W 1982 Television receiver. How DARE they not include one.

RIF my friend. Apparently comprenhension is not in your vocabulary. My complaint is they MARKET it as being able to output to FM. It won't.

I am done. Have fun being taken advantage of and liking it.

I am marketing a device that I claim will clean your house from top to bottom in 50 seconds for 9.95 a month. I'll pm you the details.

The S50 itself has not been marketed saying it has a built-in FM transmitter, the car kit has. Granted, with the new restrictions, it doesn't work all that great but it does work.

Rusty knows his stuff and what he has suggested is good advice....plus I don't understand why you would not want to use an Aux in if it's available. FM transmitters suck, whether it's sirius, xm, or an ipod. It's true that the fm signals stink after the fcc got their hands on them, Sirius and XM are making them as strong as possible. Seriously, do you think that they are making them cheaper or something, because that's not true at all. They'd make those suckers transmit a quarter mile down the road if they legally could.

And to the OP, they are plug and play. PNP means that you can take it from one car to another, to your home, to your office, etc. The marketing of the PNP feature has not been untruthful, it has nothing to do with how you hook it up to your stereo. Also, the fm transmitter is not meeting your standards, which is fine, we are all entitled to our opinions. I would suggest that if it is causing you that much heartache that you take your product back and get a refund.

From the page I bought my S50 from:

http://shop.sirius.com/edealinv/serv...7878&scId=7878

** Built-in wireless FM modulator**

This is INCLUDED WITH THE PURCHASE OF THE S50, as such it is part of the S50 For those with add I copy the FM MODULATOR LINE Closer to the top.

Let's say you go on a trip, rent a car if you think you'll be able to bring your car kit & s50 and be able to use it in a vehicle you have no right or wish to modify this would be a selling point. I have doen this with my Kenwood Here to Everywhere and it works. It will not work with the S50 which was marketed as FM usable just like the Here 2 Everywhere. How can you people not see this????

Includes Everything For Your Vehicle

*
Car dock with integrated media dial
*
Dash or console mount
*
Vent mount
*
Ultra low-profile magnetic antenna
*
Vehicle power adapter
*
Built-in wireless FM modulator
*
Three FM presets

On another point, I have three cars I usually don't use the convertible so it does not have a radio in it but I shuttle my here to everywhere in and out I'd have liked to be able to use the s50 like I was using the here 2 everywhere. Oh well.
