Question -

If you order a lifetime subscription - can you also do receiver swaps if one breaks and you get a new one to replace that particular subscription?

Yes. I believe you can do that up to three times, and that they will charge you a $75 each time you swap it.

Correct, 3 swaps @ $75/swap.

Your break even point on a lifetime is 38.5 months and 5.8 months/swap. These are at a $12.95/mo cost.

Lifetime Subscriber here! If you plan on listening well into the future it's the obvious choice, especially since Mel recently stated he dislikes the idea which means it may end forever.

my fear would be getting two or three bad radios in a row. I know this is not very likely, it seems like it has happened to some unluck people.

if your radio breaks and is replaced under warranty, there is no charge and it does not count as one of your three swaps allowed for the lifetime plan. Now if you just buy a new tuner or your 4 year old tuner breaks then you'll be charged $75 and it counts as one of the three allowed swaps.

i got the llifetime plan for three mian reasons:

1. no $140 bill every year for my main tuner
2. lifetime access to the bassic online streaming regardless of if my tuner still works or not
3. additional receivers at $6.95 a month.

i think it was a great deal for the $500 i paid

i'm contemplating the lifetime sub too.
-- how long is the original sirius warranty?
-- if less than 4 years, do they honor a 4 year extended warranty purchased by Circuit City (to waive the $75 i mean)?

Any chance I can get Sirius to upgrade me to a lifetime subscription and giving me credit for the past ~year subscription?

Sirius will only credit you what you have left on your existing contract. So, if you prepaid for two years, they will deduct the remaining year on your contract, but any time you have paid for and used is lost.

You'll have to call them on that one Homie. Me and my g/f had paid for a weeks worth of a yearly sub before we upgraded to a lifetimer, and they prorated us (deducted the weeks worth of $ towards the lifetime plan). I imagine they would do this for a month also but I'm not sure how far into the past they are willing to prorate you. Good luck though and let us know.

Edit: posted as cooper was posting. Yes, he is correct as far as I know.

okay so what about the warranty question? i looked on sirius' site and apparently it's only good for one year. would they honor a replacement by the circuit city warranty? i'm guessing no but if anyone has any anecdotes that'd be great.
