Default I hate when...

People want to put a single DIN head unit when you can put in a double din headunit!

I mean I wish I had a car with a double din head unit then my choices for A/V wouldn't be so limited to flip screens and single dins with 3-3.5" screens.

Get the JVC AVX-706

Not only a huge Sirius display but DVD playback and GigaMP3 playback on MP3's burned on DVD-R's. Divx support and load wallpaper or digital music finals from a SD card with the SD card slot.

Its available for around $500 on Ebay BRAND NEW... You can't beat it!

Trust me, I recently burned a DVD-R for a co-worker who has a Dual Flip Screen in her Jetta GLS VR6 STICK! (not too often a girl has a manual tranny performance car...) with some MTV2 "Sucka Free" weekly hip-hop showw. She doesn't have any serious speakers or amps in their yet, but MTV is broadcast in Dolby Surround and my capture card supports that (thanks ATI!) and it looks and sounds BADARSE!

Music Video bumpin in your ride!

I only notice the finger prints during the day. Considering I don't drive much when it's light out this time of year, I haven't noticed them.

Thanks Guys,

So here is a really lame question...but the truth is, I just don't know...

Do the Double Din units NOT need to flip out?....so the screen is visible all the time?....if so, then double din it is!!....I have a feeling it's going to come down to the new double din JVC AVX 800 (not available yet) or the new double din Kenwood also coming out soon....assuming of course, that there will be a significant improvement regarding the Sat text issue on Kenwood

I love getting all of your feedback....here is another question:

Sony is releasing a SACD player for the car this summer...is there an HU out there that allows adding a component later on? For instance, I would totally buy the sony too just to use it as a sacd player (not fond of sony for anything else)..

Thanks,
CM

On my unit the screen tilts down and out to like 45 degrees so you can insert discs. The screen is visible at all times but the graphic changes to an insert disc symbol.

My JVC1 tuner drops out sometimes. I have an old Orbiter PNP in the other car the JVC1 drops out more, but it's not some crazy amount. Most days it only drops out under overpasses on the freeway.

Pioneer claims their new line of receivers (such as the DEH-P6900UB) will show 2 lines of Sirius text and will display all the info. Has anybody else heard of this? Also, Alpine claims their PNP adapter will display all of the text on their head units.

I hope somebody is brave or own an audio shop can confirm these as soon as the products are released.

Joe

while i love my pioneer avh-p7800, its sirius support is less than stellar compared to xm's. for one, it can only display one metadata at a time: song title, artist, composer, etc. it will also only show (i think) less than 16 characters all at once, but will scroll the complete text.
one of my major peeves about these electronic manufacturers is the poor use of the huge screen real estate. i mean, with a >6" screen, i'm sure they can display all information at one time and still make it very legible. this is why i am interested with alpine's concept of integrating with a PnP. one can get the features & display of a PnP with direct access & control thru a headunit...
