I was thinking about using the repeater in my car via a power inverter to broadcast to my desk at work. Unfortunately I have a poor ability to put perceived distance into numbers, so I'm not sure if my desk is more than 75 feet from the closest parking space. I do have a direct line of sight though through a window. I might just have to buy it and try it. The only other issue would be the fact that I'd have to buy the Stiletto's home kit. kinda pricey to buy both.

TSS sells just the cradle
http://www.tss-radio.com/stiletto-ho...le-p-4444.html

It's 20 bucks less. That is really all you would need. You could use the AC adapter that came with the stiletto to plug into the home cradle. You would not need an antenna because you would be plugging in the receiver end, the only thing is the plug for the headphones or adapter to a stereo that you might have to pickup at radioshack, depending on how you were going to play it.

I was also wondering if anyone tried it with an XM system.

mine came today - works great with my Sportster boombox in my basement.
anyone try it with the stiletto antenna cable project ??
no more trying to get a signal out the window under trees, on the wrong side of the house.
A new life for for Sportster Boombox.

I got one about a week ago from TSS. I did not see too many reviews so I thought I would add my 2 cents. So far I love it. I wish the additional Receivers were cheaper, I can get a radio for almost free but this extra Receiver was $50. It just plugs in and works. the receiver side does not need power which is nice, you just plug it into the doc where the normal antenna would go. I just use a normal car antenna on the outside and I have 2-3 bars with almost no drop outs. i did notice if I use the 900 Mhz phone (it is my water proof phone) the radio will cut out. My wireless network and new 2.4 Ghz phone have no impact.

Thanks, I was looking for more reviews. I'm really on the fence with purchasing this unit, I'm curious about the range from the transmitter to the echo receiver. Is the 75 ft claim accurate?

How is this unit working out for those who bought it?

I am trying to justify putting out $140 (repeater + home outdoor antennae) to get a better signal.

I think 75 ft is about correct but in reality it is not that far. especially if you are going between floors and through walls. Within a room or two it works great. WiFi works much better for longer distances. For Real long distances you need a wire.

I tend to use it a lot with my Boom Box. I put the antenna near the power, then have the boombox which runs on batteries.

It is worth the money. The signal sounds great with it. But there are instances where it just is not the correct solution.

Just walked around the outside of my house with it attached to the Stiletto and the modified headphone cable:
The receive is in the front first floor corner room, I walked at least 100 feet behind the house, at least 150 feet from the receiver. Granted it was outside, but it did have to go thru the entire structure to get to the back.
Dropouts only occurred when I placed my body between receiver and transmitter. I determined that it WAS using the Echo, I unplugged the antenna and lost signal completely. I had the Stiletto in my pocket.
Inside my house no problems at all, 3 story house , transmitter in on first floor and works great throuh out.

If you are on the fence it is a no brainier. I have the transmitter in the basement and the receiver portion on the second floor of the house. The sound quality is not compromised in the least. It is nice to turn on the radio and NOT do the antenna shuffle.

Sure it is allot of money but the reduced frustration is worth it. My signal would always cut out at the worst time. Nothing worse then listen to a hour long who dunnit and the murderer is.... AQUIRING SIGNAL, Sal found a number on his wife's cell phone the number was for....AQUIRING SIGNAL, Artie weighs how much this week ....AQUIRING SIGNAL,

Thanks for all of the helpful replies, everyone!

The frustrations with the (I like how you put it, bagger) "antennae shuffle" is enough to drive me crazy! I'm glad to hear that it works as advertised, I just didn't want to go through the install if it wasn't going to be a big improvement.

I think it would be ideal, for my situation. I was going to attach the home antennae with my Dish TV that's mounted on my garage. My garage is not attached to my house, I would have the transmitter stuck to the closest wall inside the garage and hopefully, it should reach most of my house, back deck and side patio.

I am assuming this will work with the 50' extension cable if I need it, right?

Also, has anyone used it with the whole house fm transmitter?

Thanks again!

It should reach your house. Give it a try first before you get the extension.

Let us know your findings.
