Has anyone noticed that hairdryers make the signal screwy?
Another thing is I already had to power cycle my repeater after only a week of use. Anyone have issues with this? Maybe it got too hot? I dunno. Just throwing it out there to see if anyone else has had experience with this..

I have had no problems with any electrical devices around my house and this thing (except once with my 900Mhz phone). I plugged it in the day I got it and have not unplugged it since. I have moved the receiver units to different locations and radios and not had any issues. Have a sat radio in the master bedroom and listen to a normal radio in the bath via the FM transmitter.

Question Which antenna to use?

I just got my Echo today.

Current setup is the home antenna on the windowsill of a West facing window. I can get 3 bars Sat and 6 bars (which fluctuate between 3 and ) bars for Ter.

I connected the Echo to a car antenna that I taped to a North facing window. I an getting zero bars for Sat and fluctuating 3 and 6 bars on Ter.

I assumed with a North facing window I would get full signal.

So my question is, would the home antenna work better than the car antenna. I didn't try the home antenna yet as I would need to untack it from the baseboard and didn't want to do that if I was unhappy with the Echo.

Comments please.

I would assume you would connect your echo to the antenna where you get the stongest signal. The car antenna works best on a car where you have the trunk or roof behind it acting as a ground plane. I would just use your current setup with the home antenna.
Why not just unplug the home antenna connection and just plug in the echo antenna. You would not have to untack it all?

I thought the idea was to set an antenna in a North window when possible? I assumed the signal would be stronger from that location.

So moved the home antenna to North facing window and now I get 6 solid bars on Sat signal.

Yes, this is why their terrestrial repeaters are so great. However, there is no excuse for there to be inactive ones. There is reports of one being 3 miles north of me here in Boise, ID, but it is inactive! WHY!?! I think they need to get it together and fill in the coverage. Nothing would make me more happy than to be able to sit on my couch with my SL2 without it being tethered to anything.

This is why the SL2 also has Wifi. I sit on my couch or at my desk at the office totally unthethered and listen to my SL2. It is wonderful! Many of us live in rural areas and we will NEVER have a repeater so this is the next best thing. The Wifi on the SL100 and SL2 in my opinion make them one of the best entertainment investments I've made.

Well, I see a couple problems with this approach though, 1) the 'love' button doesn't work. and 2) my wireless requires 802.1x as an ever-increasing number do... why on earth was this left out?!

Your wireless should also be backwards compatible, if not you got screwed.

In regards to the "LOVE" button you are correct, but I do that when I listening via sat. When I am laying around on my couch or busy at the office the last think I am worried about is "LOVING" a song.

Default Three units are hooked up in my house-work great

There is wireless in the house, too. The XM repeater does not work in the house, even though at work its signal traverses about 2/3 the width of my building- ca 120 feet.

I got one of these for Christmas and it works great. Hooked it up and away I went. Sometimes you might have to play with the receiver a little, but all in all I love it.....

SHP-4903237 SIRWRS1 $79.99 SIRIUS ECHO Signal Repeater System

YOU ROCK DUDE! Thanks for the heads up and code. This Echo Repeater is going for $99 everywhere (including TSS). I was able to snag the Echo Repeater (SIRWRS1) as well as one extra Antenna (SIRWRR1) for a grand total of $128. I got free shipping and $39 in discounts using the discount code.

I plan on running the line from my outside Sirius Home Antenna hooked up to my dish, to this unit. I have two receivers, one in my living room just a floor above and maybe 15 feet away, and my Starmate Boombox which is in my home office (through a wall and about 10 feet away). This should hopefully save me time and energy from running a SRAS2 Splitter from my antenna on the roof, running the RG-6 cables all over the place, drilling holes, adding amps, etc, and is CERTAINLY cheaper. Also, this way I should be able to use my boombox outside on my property and be assured of a good signal. I AM SO STOKED!

Default Update on my Sirius Echo experience and question

OK, this thing is sweet! I have it hooked up to my room antenna, and now my whole house rocks. I have two receivers, one in my home office, and one upstairs in my den, and both sound as if they are connected directly to the antenna itself. I have not had one issue at all. No interference from wireless home network (rounter is in the same room as one of my echo antennas), no interference from cordless phones, and no interference from Microwave or any other appliance. I love this thing!

So, I get in my car yesterday, and turn on the regular in dash radio (sirius receiver still in the house), and on 88.1 I am picking up the signal from my sirius receiver in my den! Keep in mind I have NO RECEIVER in the car, just the wires from the antenna and power hookups. Any idea HOW this happened? The reason why I ask is I am trying to replicate this with a FM radio I have in my home office. It sits right across from my Starmate Replay (which is in the boombox). I would like to get whatever I am listening to in the boombox's signal over to the FM on the stereo. For whatever reason, I cannot get it to pick it up. Keep in mind this is a DIFFERENT receiver signal than the one I was picking up while in the car. I would just use my CCrane modulator, except the boombox hookup with NOT allow me to get to the FM port on the side and stay connected.

Anyone? Beuhler?

Default Nice Gift!

I received this as a gift from my husband, more as a gift to him I think! I've plugged it in a month ago and never looked back!

My unit was an old JVC boombox, that allowed me to use it as an alarm clock too. Being the type of sleeper/wake err upper (?) person I am, my alarm clock has to be far away from me. I have to get out of bed to shut it off.

I had the antenna wire draped around the bedroom perimeter, over the dresser onto the windowsill. Maybe the one time too many almost tripping over the wire prompted his purchase!

I've not had any issues with interference with the phone or the wireless network.

Allowed for better signal strength due to the freedom of setting it up in a different room, and the wireless is a life saver! Easy and quick to install, and a great gift for a satellite radio lover on your list!
