Hey TigerFan55 another big welcome to Backstage. Good to see so many fellow Louisianians on the forum.

The Starmate Replay is a nice tuner. I think you'll enjoy it once you get time to hook it up.

So how are things in New Orleans? I know its a long way from the way it was, but hopefully getting better each day. I seen where they were finally hauling all those darn cars and trucks away that had just been left behind from Katrina. I am sure that helped clean it up a bit, but there is still much left to do. I think New Orleans will be a leaner meaner city once this all settles out.

Default You know you're a New Orleans native if...

You know you're a New Orleans native if...

-- You drive your car up onto the neutral ground if it rains steadily and heavily for more than two hours
-- You have flood insurance
-- Someone asks for an address by compass directions and you say it's Uptown, downtown, backatown, riverside or lakeside
-- Your burial plot is six feet over rather than six feet under
-- You don't worry when you see ships riding higher in the river than your house
-- You know the West Bank has nothing to do with Israel or the Middle East
-- You take a "right-hand turn" instead of a right turn
-- You judge a restaurant by its bread
-- You visit another city and they "claim" to have Cajun food -- but you know better
-- The four seasons of your year are crawfish, shrimp, crab and oyster
-- Someone at a crawfish boil says, "Don't eat the dead ones," and you know what they mean
-- The smell of a crawfish boil turns you on more than Chanel No. 5
-- You don't really teach people the right way to eat crawfish, so there's more for you
-- You use the term "Schwegmann's bag" as a unit of measurement: "Did ya catch a lot at da parade? Yeah you rite! A whole Schwegmann bag full!"
-- When you speak with a tourist, he asks, "Are you from Brooklyn?"
-- You don't learn until high school that Mardi Gras is not a national holiday
-- Every time you hear sirens you think it's a Mardi Gras parade
-- You bring empty grocery bags to a parade
-- Every so often, you have waterfront property
-- That brown bag you take to the Saints game ain't your lunch

(I'm not from the city itself, but I can relate to all of this!)

Default Katrina Anniversary

It's hard to believe that it's been a year since that terrible time for the Gulf Coast. I found a page showing then and now photographs from New Orleans. Here is the link.

Default Katrina - When The Levee's Broke

The HBO Special "When The Levee's Broke" was very touching to say the least. I found myself very emotional during several part of this documentary. Spike certainly had a message in this movie, It was about race and NOW about money. The loser in all of this is clear. It also paints a very, very clear picture of a US Administration asleep at the wheel with very incompetent people at the helm. Anyway... that is my thought on this documentary about Katrina, which has set back La for many years to come. I suppose any discussions on the politics of this documentary need to be moved to the Political Asylum.

Welcome to Backstage, glad to have you on board. I'll be in New Orleans in July for a conference. I've not been in a few years and certainly not since Katrina.

Hello everyone. This is the only Louisiana thread I have come across so far so I figured I would say hi in here. I am a new subscriber as of a month ago and am liking it better than I did XM. The sound quality seemed to be better with my Roady XT and FM direct adaptor though, but from reading a bit I guess its from Sirius having to tone down the FM signal on the newer radios, I have a Stratus 4 so I guess that one is included. Well, I will see everyone around.

Went back for Jazz Fest this year with my wife (her first time ever and my first time back since I moved away). I miss it so much. Loved it. We were drenched and we didn't care a bit. She is now searching for hotel deals, etc for next year!!!

7 Aaron, I get all your references 100% (except the Saint's brown bag, never went to a game)..
