I drove through Colorado once. On a round trip from California to Nebraska. Southern route on the way there. Northern route on the way back.

It's amazing how much the landscape changes in Colorado...In the matter of a few hours, you go from plains and meadows to lush rolling hills to canyons to deserts to mountains (of course) to beautiful river valleys to mesa to sand dunes to the Black Forest to farmland.

Something for almost everyone!

SORRY FELLOW COLORADANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I missed the date. Not paying attention. I live at the base of Pikes Peak in the extremely beautiful Precambrian beaches of Colorado Springs. Outside my office window is a panoramic view of deep canyons, snow capped mountains, and the infamous Cheyenne Mountain NORAD Command Center. I live in a city of 500,000 but have foxes in my neighborhood, see elk and deer just about every day and on rare occasions a herd of Antelope bouncing the plains that roll into a sea of green to the east.

If one desires, there is a mountain train that takes you to the top of pikes peak and a panoramic view of the US from 14 THOUSAND feet. This is where the inspirations came for "America The Beautiful" and where you can still get a jug of REAL spring water from public taps. I could go on forever.

Colorado has many cool peeps. We enjoy fine micro brews all over the state, host the Great American Beer Festival and are smack on in the middle of the states. We even have a few wineries that are up and coming. Here at the base of the western slope it is currently almost 70 degrees. But we try and keep that secret. If one were to desire a snow ball fight in about 15 minutes you can jump out of the car, bash some snow balls and be back at the local wine bar in a flash.

Most people are fairly active and there are a very large percentage who not only go outside for fun, they soak up the very essence of what Colorado is about. We have our own style in architecture, sort of modern ski lodge like, own style of pizza, the Denver omelet, and a host of other food stuffs. Another well kept secret is Colorado sports beautiful women all around. Lovely ladies in shape from skiing, biking, hiking, etc. And if your not up to hiking load the jeep and disappear in a valley for a day or two.

Can you see my bias. I LOVE COLORADO!

My mom lives out in Colorado Springs. I can get out there just about anytime. Just need about a month notice.

We were planning something last year (both SBS and XM411 fans), but the plans fell through.

I would like to plan something in June...best time of year IMHO to visit!

Default Moving soon

Hello future neighbors!

My wife, child, and I will be moving to Fort Collins in May 2006. We can't wait. We're leaving California for a different way of life. We love the weather in "the OC". Unfortunately, weather does not define one's existence. We're leaving family and friends, but are looking forward to meeting new people and starting a new life. Hopefully, life will be slower and the people friendlier.

So, is there really 300 days of sunshine like everyone says or are they all drinking the Kool-Aid?!?!

Regards! See you in '06!!!

Default How's the reception

I forgot to ask, how is the Sirius reception in Colorado, specifically Fort Collins? There could be some long winters without Howard and USC athletics!

Thanks!!

Funny that the creator of the 50-in-50 program actually LIVES in Fort Collins.

VoteLibertarian, you will LOVE Fort Collins. This area is again the fastest growing area in the nation (finally took that back over from Vegas). You do have one falsehood about the area...we don't have 300 days of sunshine. We actually have closer to 320!! Of course, it does get cold once in awhile, but it seldom lasts for more than a day or two. It's the best 4-season climate one can ask for, IMHO.

The SIRIUS reception is just fine here. No repeater signal, but I've had no problems.

I have to drop a trailer off at our terminal in Henderson tomorrow. Maybe I'll go visit mom after that.

I hope it doesn't snow tomorrow.
