Question Do we need all this ?

In the early days of this forum, I could click my bookmark and [boom] be there.

Now the site loads so many templates, and scripts and just out right bull-stuff. Tonight it was 63 seconds to get on the site.

Has it really made the forum any better?

Yes, I'm one of those rich folks who doesn't have a 6+ Meg coneection. I live in the country.

Spam me, mod me do what you want.
Sirius is available to all, this site should be too.

:-)

If it helps...
You can click on User CP, go to Edit Options.

You can choose to not view images, signatures, and avatars.
Visible Post Elements
You have the option to show or hide various elements of messages, which may be of use to users on slow internet connections, or who want to remove extraneous clutter from posts.

It's probably not what you are talking about, but it could speed up your SBS viewing.

Also if you have Firefox you can block Javascript and run Adblock on a few images with some plug-ins.

That's what I do.

That's not what I meant, and I believe you understand that. I can take the shot though.

My point is not everyone has 12 meg DL and a dual 64 to work with.

When this site started many moons ago, it wasn't near as fancy, cluttered, and time consuming to view. I believe the information imparted was of the same quality then, as it is now.....so...

My question still is ... what's the point of having to wait for all the scripts and stuff to load just to ask/learn/comment.

Thanks for the other good/serious replies all.

O

It seems like 7Aaron's suggestions might solve your issue. Personally, I'm glad they don't program to the slowest connections...

Okay, o. Maybe I was a little sensitive there. A LOT of people have been complaining about this board, lately. It sort of wears, you know? You have every right to express your personal opinion.

Thanks for taking the shot (I like that!) like a grown-up. We have a lot of kids who would have gone nuts!

Do me a favor and let us know how the suggestions work, if you try them.

Hi, gumby!

Actually, he might be referring to the latency issues this board has been going through. Hopefully, he (and everyone else) will be zipping through the board, as the issues seem to have been resolved.

My compliments to the admins!
