Post Why should I record Stern?

Hello I have a question for all of you. I was wondering why you guys like to record the shows? I can understand if you miss a show you would like to record it, but some people like to record and keep the copies. I found myself doing this and I feel like I'm wasting space, I don't know if I would ever listen to them again. I was wondering what you folks think about that.

Thanks,

I guess there are some that archive his shows. But for most it is a matter of recording them so that they can listen to them when and where they want at their convenience. It would seem that is the biggest reason.

Thanks,
I usually record the good bits and when they have specials but I RARELY record full shows.

Since getting my SL10 I've not once recorded anything on H100...they replay the show all day(its on a loop) and they also replay them all weekend....

I still set to record the replays (for Bubba and Howard) just in case I miss the live shows. I usually just end up deleting the Stern shows because I can generally listen live but I usually have to listen to the recorded Bubba show because I rarely listen to radio between 4PM-7PM.

I record to listen when I'm out of signal range. If it's a show I've heard all of, I can go to the next one. If I've heard that segment, I can skip forward. It's about convenience more than anything. It also is less of a drain on the battery to listen to the recorded show than the live repeat signal on the SL100.

I've recorded a few bits and segments off but mainly because i was making a sampler cd to give people a taste of Howard on Sirius. I think some people get that "Red Dawn"/disaster mentality, that they need to preserve stuff, "just in case". I've rarely gone back and listened to stuff and barely have time to record stuff off. In this digital age, I'll hope that others are preserving stuff so I don't need to.

For me it's about time shifting since I'm on the West Coast. Also, if you have a Tivo or DVR, you understand the benefit of being able to skip commercials. I can also go back and listen if i miss something instead of hoping to catch it during one of the replays. I don't stay in one place during the day either and i can't really let it play out loud in my office or the server room, so having the show at my command is great.

i record the show to listen at my convenience on my ipod. i listen at work when i get a chance to hang out at my desk, and i also listen in the car. I'll generally get through a typical 6 hour show (including the wrapup show) in a typical day of driving and work. i do archive every show because hard drive space is cheap.

i also record bubba which i listen to from time to time. i set up my bubba recordings to only save the previous weeks worth of shows so that I always have a few sitting around in case i need some stuff to load on the ipod.

i recently started recording all the special shows at 7pm EST as well. just like bubba i dont save those and only keep a few on hand so that i have something new to listen to if the mood strikes.

all of the recording, archiving, and purging of directories has been automated so it's great to not have to do anything but to always have fresh content for my ipod and to listen wherever and whenever i want.

Post Recording Stern?

Yeah, I was recording them at home so that I can listen to them later but

realized I haven't had much time to listen to the old shows. So I was

wondering if you guys come across the same problem. You think I should just

delete the old shows after I listen to them? All this recording stuff is driving

me crazy!

Timeshifting, on my schedule, not the replay schedule.

It also helps skip commercials and bits that I have no interest in.

Why is this in the feedback forum? Isn't it a Stern forum subject.

What programs do you use, and how do you record shows for the iPod? I haven't found a good program to do so with.

I use the program and hardware described in this thread:

http://www.siriusbackstage.com/forum...ad.php?t=93883

It creates MP3s that can be loaded to your iPod with iTunes. I don't use any special software for that.
