Default I'm new and I have a few questions

Hi, I'm new here, and I have a few questions...

I decided on Sirius because I'm unable to watch all of my beloved Husker games on TV, and I'm not always by my computer to hear games streamed over huskers.com. So after looking at the content on Sirius' American and Canadian sites, I've decided I want to subscribe to American content. I've purchased a radio (just a Sirius One) in Canada. I haven't activated it yet. And I have an American credit card (and check cards) issued by an American bank.
So here are a few questions:

1.) Since I bought the radio to listen to college football (importantly to listen to Husker games), does the Canadian subscription offer NCAA football games?

2.) Can I register this radio I bought in Canada on Sirius' American website (for American content)?

Someone in Canada told me that they registered a radio (I didn't ask if it was bought in America or Canada) and used a hotel address in the US as their home address, chose to receive correspondence as email, and their credit card is charged monthly... but I went through the process of registering on Sirius' (American) website and entered a hotel address, but deselected the 'same as billing' box, and on the billing page I got "This address must match the address you use for your credit card." but my American card is billed to my Canadian address, and only there are no Canadian address options on that page, so I closed the window. From what I've read, the American content is blocked anyways because the radio was purchased in Canada, so do I need to purchase an American unit in the US (or from eBay)? Thanks!

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that if you bought the radio in Canada, you're going to have to get the Canadian Subscription. I don't think there's any way around that...

Also, don't be surprised if you don't get all the Cornhuskers games. The bowl game they went to last year and beat Michigan wasn't on Sirius or XM. And I wanted to listen to this game...

Default Roaming question

As a Canadian resident with Canadian subscription, Can I get reception anywhere in the US while on a car trip or in hotels?

Thanks for some clarification there. I remember that game was on ABC .

But I asked that person in Canada who has an American subscription if his radio was American or Canadian. He told me that he did buy his in Canada, but he bought it before there was a Canadian service (making it American).

Your best bet would be to call Sirius and ask. It won't cost anything... Other than the time involved in sorting through the voice mail

I've wondered about this... I think of eBay buyers who don't really know everything about the seller... What if they get a Canadian radio by mistake.. If Sirius USA won't activate it, are they out of luck??

On the question of reception in the US.. The satellites beam their signals blindly over North America. They have no idea where the reciever is or if it's in the US or Canada

Well as mentioned above, I did go through the registration process on the American site, up to the billing address (including entering the serial number). I still have my Nebraska cell phone #, so I could use that as my home phone number. Worst case scenario, I only get Canadian coverage. Any Canadians here with Canadian subscriptions that can verify or confirm that NCAA games are broadcast on the Canadian subscription?

That's what I thought.. I think all the new Canadian radios are pre programed to only take the Canadian streams. They need a special signal to add any US channels.

I just looked at the Sirius Canada web site and it seems they do carry College Sports.. I don't know if they carry all the games that the U.S. subscription offers..

Thanks for the link! Even though it shows the NU/Missoura game, it still shows it being on a channel.

Well I called the US number (from the site here), and said "I was up visiting in Canada and bought a radio while I was up there because it was such a good deal. Can I activate it through the American site, because I don't want to get stuck with a radio that doesn't work?"

The person I talked to asked me what kind of radio it was (it's a Sirius One), and said 'as long as it is a Sirius radio I could.' And then he told me something about getting 2 free radios, for just the cost of shipping, but I don’t want Sirius shipping radios to a hotel address.

He was ready to sign me up on the spot, even waiving the extra $5 that you'd pay to register on the phone. I said I didn't have my credit card with me, and would rather do it online.

So it looks like I can register the Canadian unit on the American subscription, but is there something in the Canadian unit that would block out the extra American channels (eg. Seattle traffic to name one)? Or are they just drone units that download data to receive American or Canadian channels (based on the subscription)? I haven’t registered it yet because it’s a Christmas present, and shouldn’t have it until 12/25, so I might not be so quick to return it, and buy one from the US.
