Default This is supposed to replace Folktown?

The programmers at Sirius are clueless if they think this station will attract the same audience as Folktown. The P.R. about the station being folk and acoustic rock is also BS. I have heard mostly electric stuff that can be found on several other Sirius channels. Nothing like adding less variety to an already limited playlist. Folktown could always be identified by the music without looking at the radio dial. This new station sounds like about 6 other stations Sirius already has.
It seems I'm batting 1.000 here. I originally bought Sirius because they carried the complete Air America broadcast. We were planning to buy a second unit last month because my wife wanted Folktown in her car since it's like nothing you can hear on commercial radio. Fortunately we decided to wait when we got the notice that it was being folded over into Coffee House. When my subscription is up in March we are switching to XM. They currently have both a folk and an acoustic rock station.

For now when they bring on those Canadian channels those may not still be there. Lots of shaking out over the coming months. What you have today you may not have tomorrow. Until all this shakes out that is the nature of the beast. XM has removed their fair share of unique channels too over the last year and I think there are more to come, hopefully I am wrong.

Personally I think the only way to go is having both services!

For the record, the only channel that I am aware of XM cancelling during the last year has been Liquid Metal. The year before, On the Rocks was cancelled. They haven't added many channels, but their lineup has been much more stable than Sirus's.

Your point is incorrect. XM removed only two of their unique channels within a two-year period, while Sirius removed 50% more than that in one fell swoop. Tsk tsk.

That is your opinion, but clearly both of these services have and will continue to remove channels. It is the nature of the beast, like it or not.

I agree. Please be sure to share this with the folks at Sirius. If you have not already done so (and perhaps again if you have done so), please write to customer service and to:

Folktown was the best thing on Sirius, its replacement Coffehouse is the same recycled lame Mainstream Soft Rock that is overflowing on the other Sirius channels.I subscribed for a year and now I am very dissapointed at the limited programming here. Hoping that some of the alt country and acoustic music might bleed into renegade country. But how can they remove an entire genre of music? Today the coffee house had such amazing acoustic singer songwriters as Coldplay,Counting Crows,Nora Jones and Bob Marley etc etc ....Huh????

Default Sirius is now no better than commercial radio w/o ads

Sirius has totally blown it replacing folktown with Coffee house
Coffe house is nothing more than an easy listening station without the DJs

I was stupid enough to buy a life time subscription otherwise I would cancel this service. The suggestion from their customer service was to auction off the radio with the lifetime service on ebay.

Sirius should be creating innovative programming....Howard Stern?????????????????????? Coffee House?????? This is for sure programed by comuter software. We have a better radio in philadelphia. I will tell everyone I know that is interested in sattilite to get XM

It is unbelievable with all the crap stations they have there is NO PLACE on Sirius with real folk musik.

I totally agree. Folk Town was probably one of the most unique channels ever. I could (and did) listen to it for hours on end. Coffee House is just OK. I won't say I hate it, but I resent it.

Default Sirius degrades into corporate pap...

I subscribed to Sirius two years ago because I felt channels like Folktown, Swing Street, Disorder and others were proof that they thought there was an audience for musical diversity.

Well, that audience showed up but somewhere along the line (new CEO?), Sirius executives decided that "me too" programming was the way to go.

Screw that! "Censorship OFF!" I'll give Sirius and Coffee House another 30 days, then I'll plug the plug on my two subscriptions if there's no improvement.

I can't help but think that Sirius is now being run by another incompetent Bush crony and is trying to shove NASCAR & fundamentalism & Howie Stern down our throats, when all we really want is authentic music and no ads... is that really so much to ask for?

Sheesh. "Don't you kids make me stop this car and come back there!"

Default I miss Folktown

I have until March 18 on my year's subscription and then I'm switching to XM. It's almost as if XM and Sirius have switched names. Now XM has the more diverse music programming and better talk.
Coffee House seems to me to be mis-named. Coffee Shop (as in Starbuck's) is more like it. This isn't music you'd expect to hear in a coffee house.

I wonder if we can get pro-rated refunds.
