The email seems more and more typical of Sirius in terms of bait and switch. I know when Air America went to XM exclusively, Sirius was insistant that they were working on another liberal channel. Three months lather, nothing. With the new channels, they announced on their website that former Air America listeners should check out Sirius Left (WHICH THEY PROBABLY HAD SINCE IT HAS BEEN ON SIRIUS FOR OVER TWO YEARS!!!). I know the emails could be from low-level Sirius customer service agent, but it would be nice if they could level with their customers.

I just heard a Coffee House promo, and it was more honest. They said that it featured "artists like" Norah Jones, David Gray, and Tracey Chapman. However, it didn't mentioned Norah Jones, David Gray, (and they forgot Coldplay!) are on 90% of the time.

Really, you have any proof beside some email from a CSR, which we ALL know how informed they are. Can you point me to an official press release or something on Sirius web site that indicates they actually planned to bring another liberal channel? Anything? NO?

If CSRs are in fact uniformed/misinformed/lying to customers, Sirius has major quality control issues that they need to deal with. Considering the dealings I have had with Sirius Customer Service (aka The Worst Customer Service Debacle Ever), I wouldn't doubt this.

If it were only Sirius that had poor CSR, but this is common with a lot of companies these days. I have to call Cingular 3 times to get a small problem corrected on my account. The first one told me he handle it, he had not. The second one acted like I was talking in a langauge she didn't understand. Finally the third one was able to take care of it, but she was pretty clueless as well. You'd think with 30 millions customers Cingular would have top notch CSR, well they don't.

I have personally never had a problem with Sirius CSR, but then I don't call them expecting them to know stuff that often times Sirius management don't know yet.

one technique i use often now, especially with these conglomerate types of companies that have lots of low-on-the-ladder people who are not familiar with the system - i simply ask to talk to their boss almost right away.

before calling, i usually have a good idea as to if i am gonna need someone with more expertise. and it doesnt take but a few minutes to know after i am talking to someone, so i dont bother going into large explanations, when i know i am gonna just eventually have to re-explain it to someone with experience.

I then had to be away from the radio for about a half an hour, and when I came back The Kennedys were gone, instead they were airing a Celtic program from Horizons 99.

Does anyone know what happened? I know it could have been a technical glitch, but my gut feeling is it had to do with the word “politics” in the opening comment.
It's listed as 7 AM - 10 AM on Saturday (ET) on Disorder for the moment, but from my understanding, that will move to 10 AM, and Celtic Crush will be on during it's current repeat slot, 10 PM - 1 AM ET.

I talked to Maura very recently, and it seemed to me that times and schedules and stuff were very "up in the air" for the moment.

Default XM The Village

I've been listening to The Village all week. The mix of folk there centers more around the 1960s-era folks, but has a good variety. Actually, it seems like they play a wider variety of artists than Folktown did. For example, I've heard a few Chad Mitchell Trio songs, and they just played a Modern Man song. They seem OK with playing the less-serious humor stuff, more so than Folktown did. There's less play of some of the newer stuff, but there is some of it.

Overall, The Village is a reasonable channel for those who prefer to listen to Folk. I last listened to The Village around June of 2004, and it seems much better to me now.

I miss starting my days with Buddy Cage, and ending them with Michael Tearson, but time marches on.

Default XM IS WINNING

I now have my Xm myfi2go up and running. Reception is much better than with Sirius (and I have 3 of them). In fact, it receives in side the house sometimes with no antenna (it has a built in as well as 3 optional externals).

The Village is much better than I remembered it when I was trialing both services a couple of years ago, plus XM still had commercials back then.
X Country is REALLY cool....combo of Americana and Folk, then there's the Loft, much better than The Coffee House. Looks like I'm on my way to satisfaction, I'll be transferring all of my accounts over to XM soon, gotta figure out how to swhich out the factory install Jeep Sirius receiver first....that free trial (new car) runs out in Feb. I'll be ready by then.

Sorry to leave you Sirius, I was passionate about the service and sold alot of friends and family to it (they hate me now!). But things change, and I'm a month by month subscriber (thank gawd) so I have no ties.

And I know the moderator will be happy to see me go.....but maybe others
can use this info to their advantage, especially if they're checking the message boards as shoppers and realize how things can change so unexpectedly.

Sniff....off I go.

Enjoy those wonderful acoustic bands on Coffee House, like Elton John, Harry Connick Jr, Miles Davis, REM HA !!!!! What were they thinking ?

If you have a repeater, I'd believe you, but as someone that has had a Pioneer Airware for a few months, I am not buying indoor reception with just a sat signal.

Glad you found XM more to your liking, I like XM myself. But I can only wonder what you'll find to bitch about over there, because since the first time you've posted here all you've done is bitch. I suppose its only a matter of time.

Every company has its share of crappy CSRs. If that was a factor in every purchase decision I made, I'd be living on a dirt lot with no possesions.

Sorry, but it' true, never seen anything like it with Sirius. It's sittin on a granite counter top right now, catches the southern signal wicked fine. But, when I step infront of it the signal drops...but then again, that ain't no antenna hooked up at all yet ! It's gonnna rain like hell here this weekend, so the permanent antenna hook up will have to wait a few days, but it certainly won't require any fine tuning.

Maybe with the home antenna, but not the built in antenna. If you say the built in antenna, I will KNOW you are lying.

I thought you were leaving? What you just can't tear yourself away?

I'M TALKING THE BUILT IN ANTENNA, ON A GRANITE COUNTER TOP (soap stone) THE STRANGEST THING, No Shit! I KNOW IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE.

Has to be something with the stationary position of the XM satellite.
