Default Repetition on Roadhouse / Prime Country

I've been going crazy over hearing the same songs over and over again by artists on the Roadhouse / Prime Country. There are so many great classic country songs by artists from the 70s and 80s that were huge hits, but it seems like the same ones are always played over and over. I am for some hits-based programming. Personally, I don't like having to hear artists like Heather Myles, Chris LeDoux, and Dale Watson played heavily like on XM's 10 America, but there is so much missing from Sirius' country selection it is ridiculous. I looked up from Billboard's Hot Country Singles charts a list of top 10 singles from my favorite 70s and 80s artists and notice how few of their HITS (top 10 singles) are actually played on Sirius:

Songs in BOLD have been played in the last month, everything else has not:

Eddie Rabbitt:
Drinkin' My Baby (Off My Mind)
Rocky Mountain Music
I Can't Help Myself
Two Dollars In The Jukebox
We Can't Go On Living Like This
You Don't Love Me Anymore
I Just Want To Love You
Hearts On Fire
Every Which Way But Loose
Suspicions
Drivin' My Life Away
Gone Too Far
Pour Me Another Tequila
I Love A Rainy Night
Step By Step
Someone Could Lose A Heart Tonight
I Don't Know Where To Start
You Can't Run From Love
You Put The Beat In My Heart
B-B-B-Burnin' Up With Love
Nothing Like Falling In Love
The Best Year Of My Life
Warning Sign
She's Coming Back To Say Goodbye
Repetitive Regret
A World Without Love
Gotta Have You
The Wanderer
I Wanna Dance With You
We Must Be Doing Something Right
On Second Thought
Runnin' With The Wind

Especially his hits from the 80s they play virtually nothing on Roadhouse or Prime Country

Crystal Gayle:
Wrong Road Again
I'll Get Over You
Somebody Loves You
Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue
You Never Miss A Real Good Thing (Till He Says Goodbye)
I'll Do It All Over Again
Ready For The Times To Get Better
Talking In Your Sleep
Why Have You Left The One You Left Me For
Half The Way
When I Dream
Your Kisses Will
It's Like We Never Said Goodbye
If You Ever Change Your Mind

Your Old Cold Shoulder
The Blue Side
Too Many Lovers
The Woman In Me
You Never Gave Up On Me
Livin' In These Troubled Times
Our Love Is On The Faultline
Til I Gain Control Again
Baby, What About You
The Sound Of Goodbye
Turning Away
I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love
Nobody Wants To Be Alone
Me Against The Night
A Long And Lasting Love
Cry
Straight To The Heart

Again, they play a fair amount of her 70s hits, but nothing on either channel from the 80s

Mel Tillis:
Who's Julie
These Lonely Hands Of Mine
She'll Be Hanging 'Round Somewhere
Heart Over Mind
Heaven Everyday
Commercial Affection
She'll Be Hanging Round Somewhere
The Arms Of A Fool
Brand New Mister Me
I Ain't Never
Sawmill
Neon Rose
Midnight, Me And The Blues
Stomp Them Grapes
Memory Maker
Woman In The Back Of My Mind
Best Way I Know How
Good Woman Blues
Heart Healer
I Got The Hoss
Burning Memories
I Believe In You
What Did I Promise Her Last Night
Ain't No California
Coca Cola Cowboy
Send Me Down To Tucson
Blind In Love
Your Body Is An Outlaw
Lying Time Again
Steppin' Out
Southern Rains
A Million Old Goobyes
One-Night Fever
In The Middle Of The Night
New Patches

It is absolutely pathetic how few of Mel Tillis' hits they play. I thought I was crazy because every time I hear Mel Tillis it always seems to be "Coca Cola Cowboy". I guess I was right. The sad thing is, Sirius doesn't fair any better for artists, say from the 90s either. Let's try Mel's daughter, Pam Tillis:

Don't Tell Me What To Do
One Of Those Things
Maybe It Was Memphis
Shake The Sugar Tree
Let That Pony Run
When You Walk In The Room
Spilled Perfume
Mi Vida Loca (My Crazy Life)
In Between Dances
Deep Down
The River And The Highway
All The Good Ones Are Gone
Land Of The Living

Why on earth would you not mix in the other Pam Tillis songs, that were big hits, especially on a pay radio service which is supposed to be better than an over-the-air station.

Alabama:
Tennessee River
Feels So Right
Old Flame
Why Lady Why
Take Me Down
Mountain Music
Close Enough To Perfect
Love In The First Degree
Dixieland Delight
Lady Down On Love
The Closer You Get
If You're Gonna Play In Texas (You Gotta Have A Fiddle In The Band)
When We Make Love
Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler)
Can't Keep A Good Man Down
There's No Way
Forty Hour Week (For A Livin')
There's A Fire In The Night
She & I
Touch Me When We're Dancing
You've Got The Touch
Tar Top
Fallin' Again
High Cotton
If I Had You
Song Of The South
Southern Star
Jukebox In My Mind
Pass It On Down
Forever's As Far As I'll Go
Down Home
Here We Are
I'm In A Hurry (And Don't Know Why)
Born Country
Take A Little Trip
Then Again
Reckless
Hometown Honeymoon
Once Upon A Lifetime
We Can't Love Like This Anymore
T.L.C. A.S.A.P.
She Ain't Your Ordinary Girl
Give Me One More Shot
In Pictures
The Maker Said Take Her
Sad Lookin' Moon
Dancin', Shaggin' On The Boulevard
How Do You Fall In Love
God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You

Anybody other than me remember the Forester Sisters:
I Fell In Love Again Last Night
That's What You Do When You're In Love
Mama's Never Seen Those Eyes
Just In Case
Lonely Alone
You Again
Too Many Rivers
Lyin' In His Arms Again
Letter Home
Love Will
Sincerely
Don't You
Leave It Alone
Men

That's right. 13 top 10 hits and not one of them have played. I do remember hearing "I Fell In Love Again Last Night" on Sirius a while back from time to time, but that must've fallen out of their playlist.

from the 1970s - Sonny James:
Don't Keep Me Hangin' On
It's Just A Matter Of Time
Endlessly
My Love
Here Comes Honey Again
Empty Arms
Bright Lights, Big City
That's Why I Love You Like I Do

When The Snow Is On The Roses
Only Love Can Break A Heart
White Silver Sands
I Love You More And More Everyday
Is It Wrong (For Loving You)
A Mi Esposa Con Amor (To My Life With Love)
Little Band Of Gold
A Little Bit South Of Saskatoon
What In The World's Come Over You
When Something Is Wrong With My Baby
Come On In
You're Free To Go

This is really pathetic. How can you have two country stations like Prime Country and Roadhouse that play so little Lee Greenwood:

Ring On Her Finger, Time On Her Hands
She's Lying
Somebody's Gonna Love You
I.O.U.
Ain't No Trick (It Takes Magic)
Going, Going, Gone
Fool's Gold
God Bless The U.S.A.
Dixie Road
You've Got A Good Love Comin'
I Don't Mind The Thorns If You're The Rose
Hearts Aren't Made To Break
Don't Underestimate My Love For You
Didn't We
Mornin' Ride
Someone
If There's Any Justice
Touch And Go Crazy
Holdin' A Good Hand

I always liked T.G. Sheppard also. Too bad the only song from him I ever hear on Sirius seems to be Party Time:

Devil In The Bottle
Tryin' To Beat The Morning Home
Motels And Memories
Show Me A Man
When Can We Do This Again
Daylight
Happy Together
You Feel Good All Over
Last Cheater's Waltz
I'll Be Coming Back For More
Smooth Sailin'
Do You Want To Go To Heaven
I Feel Like Loving You Again
I Loved 'Em Every One
Party Time

Only One You
Finally
War Is Hell (On The Homefront Too)
Slow Burn
Somewhere Down The Line
One Owner Heart
You're Going Out Of My Mind
Doncha
In Over My Heart
Strong Heart
Half Past Forever
You're My First Lady
One For The Money

One more and we will have sample of ten artists. How about Ronnie Milsap:

I Hate You
Pure Love
Please Don't Tell Me How The Story Ends
I'd Be A Legend In My Time
Too Late To Worry, Too Blue To Cry
Daydreams About Night Things
Just In Case
What Goes On When The Sun Goes Down
I'm A Stand By My Woman Man
Let My Love Be Your Pillow
It Was Almost Like A Song
What A Difference You've Made In My Life
Only One Love In My Life
Let's Take The Long Way Around The World
Back On My Mind Again
Nobody Likes Sad Songs
In No Time At All
Why Don't You Spend The Night
My Heart
Cowboys And Clowns
Smoky Mountain Rain
Am I Losing You
There's No Gettin' Over Me
I Wouldn't Have Missed It For The World
Any Day Now
He Got You
Inside
Stranger In My House
Don't You Know How Much I Love You
Show Her
Still Losing You
Prisoner Of The Highway
She Keeps The Home Fires Burning
Lost In The Fifties Tonight
Happy, Happy Birthday Baby
In Love
How Do I Turn You On
Snap Your Fingers
Where Do The Nights Go
Button Off My Shirt
Don't You Ever Get Tired Of Hurting Me
Houston Solution
A Woman In Love
Stranger Things Have Happened
Are You Lovin' Me Like I'm Lovin' You
Since I Don't Have You
Turn That Radio On

I guess I should've bought an IPod instead of Sirius . . .

Can anybody else think of artists they always hear the same songs over and over from, while completely missing the boat on most of the artist's playlist on? From the 70s, 80s, or 90s would be great. Let's see how many we can come up with . . .

I agree. You put a bunch of work and thought into your post. Thanks for doing that.

We had a similar problem at Totally 70's that got fixed after a bunch of letter were written to Jay Clark the VP of programming at Sirius.

I hear way too many repeats at New Country; my 10 year old nephew even mentioned it to me. Prime Country would be awesome if they would just open things up a bit. They have so much great music to choose from, they have the 70's, 80's and 90's right?

Egads! Their not playing Alabama's Old Flame is enough reason for me to loose faith in their country programming guru. Is their head of country programming stationed in New York or Nashville?

They're pretty much invisible here in Music City, although I know they have an office here somewhere. XM is all over the place... they have studios at the Country Music Hall of Fame and are out and about at country music events.

Anyway... I'd be up for a letter writing campaign to get this fixed.

Hey Phil:

Do you do anything but whine about Sirius programming?

You've made 12 posts in about a year and a half. Virtually every single one is a complaint about Sirius programming.

If you spent as much time e-mailing and calling in requests for songs you want to hear, as you do making your long posts of what Sirius should be playing in your opinion, you probably would've heard a lot of those songs by now.

I agree with your above statement completely. Yahoo Music and a compatible MP3 player are definitely the way to go for you.

Renaissance Man:

So are you defending playing the same four Mel Tillis songs over and over and over and over again out of his dozens of top ten hits????

Furthermore. complaining about me whining? It seems that you are the one whining about me whining. If whining bothers you so much then why are you whining about me?????

I wasn't whining or complaining. I was making an accurate observation of your posts--you've done nothing but whine and complain in every single one of them. I called you on it, and even gave you suggestions that would stop you from having to whine 24/7.

Sorry you're not bright enough to distinguish the difference between my accurate observations and your constant whining and complaining.

I don't give a crap about Mel Tillis one way or the other. There are plenty of other country singers who deserve airtime, and Sirius is giving it to them.

A lot of whiners around here complain that Sirius doesn't have variety, but it's obvious that they do--because they don't play the same artists like Mel Tillis and the others you mentioned, over and over.

I'd rather hear a lot of songs by a lot of different artists, like Sirius is now doing--rather than hear a lot of songs by a few artists, like you espouse.

Now stop your whining and wasting everybody's time including your own, and start sending in requests for those songs big, bad Sirius is allegedly depriving you of.

Please run along, lad.

You definitely need to follow your own advice and take a good look at yourself, AND STOP YOUR INCESSANT WHINING!

It's pathetic that you have to follow me into another thread, whining and attacking me.

What happens in one thread, stays in one thread. Please act like an adult and don't let your urge to attack and whine at me carry over into other threads.

Shaddup, you whiney little brat.

I'm yanking your chain, and you're just not intelligent or mature enough to realize it.

I'm going to see how many times I can get you to keep whining the same thing over and over.

That's about half a dozen times you've used that "Take a look at yourself" whine. Quit using the same whine over and over, for pete's sake.

Just reading through your many critiques and you seem like the little old lady down the street, the noisy type who has to butt into everyone's business with her one way comments. Her way is the only way. NO MATTER WHAT !
And it just get's tiring after a while.
Please take a deep breath after reading peoples posts, and don't feel that need to jump down everyone's back. It gets annoying after a while.

You need to get a life !!! REALLY NOW !!! Ba Ba Booie !
