Yeah, I am a skeptic, I'll believe it when I see it. Hell, that's the first rule of wall street, if you believe what management says you'll be in the poorhouse all the faster.

Absolutey, don't get me wrong...I'm waiting to see big action by Sirius' auto partners this fall. From what I have heard, all signs point to a big push.

Let's watch and see how it all falls out.

But... Honda has a comfy piece in ownership with XM... I dun get it.

Anyway, as for the original topic, I'm not supporting one of the other right now, but when my year's up, one is going out the door.

The equipment was free. It's that simple. Now that I have it, and have listened to XM, I like the programing better, no comercials, JAZZ channels over what FM has, and sound quality.

For me this is what I thought of both:
Sirius:
Pros:
-I was able to hear the ALL the stations before I bought it (VERY Important)
-Octane
-No Commercials
-Full Scrolling
Cons:
-Moving Satellites (I shouldn't have to worry about me losing signal after getting it)
-Financial Trouble (SUPPOSEDLY passed them)
-More Money
XM:
Pros:
-Likely to survive
-Better Events (36 hours of springsteen, things are scheduled [IE: Bon Jovi will be here at 3:00PM on 6/28 on stream 26])
-Stationary Satellites (That's the stuff right there)
Cons:
-Rock streams (previewable ones) are not as good as Sirius
-Commercials (4 minutes isn't bad, but there is no promise that they won't add more)
-Abbreviated Titles (VERY small issue)

Although I heard from the folks at XMFan.com that squizz is as good as Octane, I can't risk it with a $250+ purchase. Sirius let me know exactly what I was getting, and I liked it, while with XM they give you a general idea through pre-recorded test streams. I won't risk that much money on a "sample" they make up, especially when I can't even sample the channels I would like the most. If XM let you sample them all (at least in the store), they might have had another customer right now.

Every Best Buy, Tweeter Etc., and Circuit City I have gone to all had censored lineups at the store, they were live, but censored in that they only had about 30-40 channels on them, because they were the channels with very little, or no swearing on them.

Also, I have spoken with XM customer service, and even they acknowledge that the web streams they have are not live, and are in fact "Pre recorded samples made to give you a good idea as to what the channel is like" Which is part of the reason they said they don't have a hits stream preview, because since hits are always changing they can't make a preview stream for it (That is straight from XM's CS).

XM may be actual recordings, but how easy is it to just put that stuff on the channels and record them?

Personally, I think that Sirius will take away the previews within a year or two, especially if they get their own PCR.
