Default Sirius Debuts New Lineup!

http://www.sirius.com/pdf/newstreamguide.pdf

Starting on February 3, 2003, SIRIUS will begin broadcasting 14 brand-new streams! That's eight new Music streams, three new News streams, and three new Entertainment streams. We are also changing several of the stream names to better reflect their programming, so check the new line-up and descriptions to ensure you don't miss your favorites.

And remember: Until February 3rd, 2003, your existing line-up is still in effect.

Apparently this was leaked early because Sirius has since pulled the page and channel guide.

Absolutely a poor decision. :\

Everyone I talked loved the classic soul and funk of the Express. Why take away such a popular genre for baby-boomers? Heck for all people of all ages...I found myself listening to it every so often.

They added two Dance channels - but took out a Jazz channel, Jazz Enclave. And swapped Sirius Kids and Horizons... Well, listened to both of them so I guess I don't need to reset my buttons for them...

All in all, not too bad. I was hoping to lose The Word, but no such luck.

The new dance channels sound cool.

I like the overall reorganization of the genres, plus alot of the channels have new names. Subtle tweaking that should make the lineup better overall.

Well since Sirius goofed up earlier and released the new channel guide to the world, I'll post a copy for all who missed it. After all, it was in the public domain for about a half-hour.

The new lineup looks great to me. Now if they fix the swishy audio, I'll be very happy. XM has been pissing me off big time as of late.

Based on the new channel line-up, it looks like they've lost themselves a subscriber. XM now has TWO stations that focus primarily on modern rock of the 90s. Sirius barely has one. They now say they have two (octane and rock hits) but both stations play primarily newer stuff over and over again. Now that they'll have one 'modern rock' station i can promise you i wont be hearing the older stuff from the 90s...

Way to piss me off Sirius! I'm gonna have to email stacey x to find out if this is true.

Default New Channel Line Up

I wish they had done away with some of the weather channels. The national channel is good enough. I assume that some of the talk shows they have on Yak and Buzz will be moved to the others they are listing. Though I would imagine that some folks did like the regional weather channels.

I don't know why folks want to do away with The Word Network. GEEZ what is the deal with that? There are 100 channels, no one is going to like them all, but everyone has a right to have a little something, including religious folks.

I do like the name changes and the reordered the list. The old way really made no sense, now it will flow a little better. Though this means changing all those presets.

Oh Yeah.. I do agree with the comments on the 90's. When I had XM, the 90's on 9 was one of my favs.

I don't see enough bad to warrant switching back to XM, at least not yet.

Well, I s'pose I don't have any immediate objections to the content, but was it really necessary to change so many channel numbers? I mean if they have essentially the same stream before and after, why not keep it on the same channel?

Default Channel Numbers

Toots, it is because the channel numbers were a total mess. Jumping from one thing to another was in no kind of numerical order. This reordering the channels by number was long, long over due in my opinion.

I have some concerns about some of the talk channels, but then not everyone is into those. But I do occasionally like to listen in. Perhaps after they make the announcment offically it will clear up as to what content on the current talk channels is moving to which of the new channels.
