SIRIUS to Broadcast Live Performances From Top Venues Around the Country Beginning July 4th Weekend

NEW YORK, Jul 1, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- SIRIUS (SIRI), known for delivering the very best in commercial-free music and premium audio entertainment to cars and homes across the country, announced today that it is expanding its line-up of live performance broadcasts to top music venues around the country. Starting July 4th weekend, SIRIUS will broadcast exclusive performances from two of the country's most progressive music clubs: Rhonda Vincent live from The Station Inn in Nashville, and David Johansen and the Harry Smiths live from The Bottom Line in New York, on SIRIUS Sessions, stream 100.

New York City's The Bottom Line celebrates 29 years of live music spanning different genres including blues, jazz, rock, gospel, R&B, country and folk. Music's greatest stars such as Bruce Springsteen, Norah Jones, Johnny Cash, and Carly Simon have rocked this legendary club over the decades. SIRIUS will bring listeners live performances straight from this historic venue, starting with David Johansen and the Harry Smiths. Over the next few weeks, SIRIUS is scheduled to broadcast performances by Suzy Bogguss, Cliff Eberhardt and The Flower Kings from The Bottom Line.

SIRIUS kicks off this new live series with bluegrass star Rhonda Vincent's Station Inn performance. The Station Inn, established in 1974, has given some of the music world's greatest names their start. Artists who have performed at The Station Inn include Bill Monroe, Del McCoury Band, Earl Scruggs, Vince Gill and J.D. Crowe. According to Vincent, "I'm excited to be a part of SIRIUS' first nationwide broadcast of performances from The Station Inn. Now, listeners from every state have access to some of the best in live music -- bluegrass and beyond." Over the next few week, SIRIUS is scheduled to broadcast performances from The Mark Newton and Larry Stephenson Bands, Byron Berline and Larry Cordle & Lonesome Standard Time from The Station Inn.

"SIRIUS is happy to broadcast live concerts from The Station Inn and The Bottom Line," said Joel Salkowitz, Vice President, Music Content and Programming for SIRIUS. "This continues our commitment to live music on SIRIUS Sessions and is just the beginning of performances from classic venues around the country."

So will this be regular programming or just over the fourth?

If so, we will finally have more shows on Sirius Sessions. Hopefully in a couple years, there will be a live stream playing previous live music, and Sirius Sessions, with 8-10 different live performances every day by all sorts of groups.
