I had the opportunity today to work in CarFi for 3 hours. I didn't realize how many Satellite Radio's we sold.

In the 3 hours I worked back there I sold 3 XM's and 5 Sirius! Woo Hoo! 4 H2a's and 1 Kenwood System. The XM's I sold 1 old Sony. And 2 SkyFi's.

The zero commercials is a big selling point to most people. I told them my major complaint is that Sirius doesn't have a Cinemagic type channel and most people were not really into it. The people who got XM were just brand crazy and wanted XM. But I sold them service plans so I laughed that up.

It was a fun 3 hours. Every night when we close the store we Crank up Siirus Dance Lineup I never know what channel but it's Awesome. We don't really listen to XM. One morning we had on the 90's and everybody was like WTF Priestly was on and we were like play some damn tunes and quit yappin.

Just thought I would share that with everyone.

Good Job Tristin! I hope you continue to report your sales experiences with us. Eight Radios in 3 hours is excellent! I have a feeling you had a lot to do with the reason so many were sold. How many asked for XM but decided to get Sirius instead? Just trying to get a feel for how Sirius's marketing is working.

It's good to get a report with Sirius outselling XM! This is hopefully a sign of things to come!

All the customers pretty much just wanted information about Satellite Radio. How it worked, which is better. A lot of people think XM has 0 commercials at all.

The town that I work in everybody has way to much money. One guy had I had to backup Quicken and put it on his new machine he had this account on there called. Fun/Throw Away money for around 1.4 million.

Anyways the H2a's are really easy to sell. They seem easier on the eyes. And I sold a service plan on every single unit =).

And we had one of the people exchange a SkyFI today and bought the H2a. He said that he didn't like how XM's DJ's were talking all the time and he just wanted tunes. He also bought 3 Home Kits and 1 Car Kit.

So I only sold 2 XM's and 6 Sirius units.

Excellent Report Tristin. I 2nd the vote for working in CarFi more often. As a matter of fact, I think you should be promoted to Manager of CarFi sales, and wear a Satellite Radio Specialist title to go along with that.

Do the other guys in your store sell more XM or more Sirius? I was just wondering, because I went to Best Buy the other day, and I asked questions about Sat radio. The guy said that Sirius had better programing, and no commercials, but he also said that they sold way more XM's. He also said that he would buy XM over Sirius. I asked why, and he said just because he knew more about XM. It's all about brand recognition in most cases, as far as what a sales rep will reccomend. I sure hope Siruis does some sirius advertising now that the equipment is beginning to appear in stores. And while I was there, I saw the H2A in person for the first time. It looks a lot smaller, and a lot better than it does in the pictures. When I first saw the pictures, it looked like an unpolished product, almost like a prototype, because it appeared that the edges were not clean or crisp, but when I saw the unit at the store, it looked great.

I think we sell more XM's when the regular guys are working back their. I see a lot of SkyFi's going out the door. But I think 99% is lack of knowledge or passion for Satellite Radio.

I have a little more enjoyment out of fixing computers though. Something about standing around all day and then doing 15 minutes worth of work installing a Modem seems easier then trying to sell something.

Most people I find that are totally clueless want to know about both Products everyone has heard of XM for the most part but you tell them about Siirus and they are like whoa sweet. The sour part is telling them about the $$$ about Sirius over XM. But we have this stupid thing called Reward Zone that if we are selling that you have to tell the customer about. Basically it's $10 to sign up and for every $125 you spend you get a gift card in the mail for $5. Nobody just buys Satellite Radio they buy a couple DVD's maybe an Audio Cable. Or they want to have the HU installed which is around $100 or so. Batteries what have you. Customer spends $250 easy so the reward Zone pays for itself.

And if you come in here a lot that extra few bucks a month for Sirius is covered for. That worked on a few sales. I was shocked today I found out the XM Boombox with my Employee Discount is only $65 dollars and some change.

I think it all depends on who is selling it. I only know one other person in the store who has Satellite Radio and he is XM but oh well.

One trick I have found is don't say one service is better then the other just lay down what each has. Let the customer compare and contrast and then discuss it with you. The guy who wanted XM I didn't say he was a moron but I asked him. "Hey have you heard of Sirius Satellite Radio" he was like "No I haven't, Is it better then XM" He bought a Kenwood HU and Tuner. And of course TERK Antenna since we only sell the Terk Antenna's.

Plus I left Sirius on the whole time instead of XM.

Today I had to cover for a lunch again in Car Stereo. So I was only back there for 45 minutes and only sold 2 Satelilte Radio's to one customer they were both Sirius H2a he told me he wanted Satellite Radio and said that he had only heard of XM. I was like did you check out Sirius he as like the star? We chuckled and I said well it's a little more per month but the music channels are commercial free and you don't have annoying DJ's talking about how they eat low fat brownies. So he said he would take 2 H2a's one for him and one for his wife cause "She is a bitch if I have something she wants and wants to borrow it all the time" And he got 2 car kits and 1 home kit. No service plan though =).

Just thought everyone would like a report. I did get told we did sell a SkyFi Boombox but not the SkyFi. Oh well I pity them. Thought the Boombox is cool.

Is the Audiovox Shuttle going to have a Boombox type adapter?

Have you been educating the other car audio employees about Sirius? So they can be a better seller while you are not there? Sounds like you enjoy the car audio department.

But I think I am like you, I hate dealing with coustomers.

Unfortunately, there has not been any annoucements of an AudioVox Shuttle Boombox. Doesn't mean there won't ever be, but not yet.

There is a boombox in the works, and due out by the end of the year.. but I don't think anyone has any specifics on it yet... or even who will manufacture it.

Yeah I have been. We don't listen to XM anymore before we open or when we are closed it's always Siirus. =)

Tristin, It sure sounds like when people are presented with some facts about Sirius it sells easily over XM. This is a good sign for Sirius, and those that have stock

I've heard the AudioVox will have a boombox in a few months, but I haven't seen any details such as if the Shuttle will snap into it or if it's standalone. It would make sense that the Shuttle snaps in just like the Delphi.
