DAB: I didn't mean you questioning the authenticity of the deal, just the reasons as to the extension of it. I personally think offering this to 1,500 people can expand it by more than that with the word of mouth this brings.

Long as SIRIUS has the funds to cover it and its brings in the subs, which it appears to be doing, then I guess all will be well. I've turned a couple of people on about it tonight here locally, since I figured what the heck. Its like you said, they may not get it otherwise and then once they do, they will spread about how great it is with others. So.. I don't see it as all bad, I just hope in the long run its the right thing to do. After considering it for awhile, it seems it just maybe what they had to do, since we absolutely must hit the goals for year end subscribers.

All I can say to all those lucky folks getting this deal... Welcome to the SIRIUS Family

This will all be worth it if those that get the deal keep the service after the 1 year is up. That's when Sirius makes money on the new subscribers. The word of mouth expansion of subscriptions is the bonus for this deal.

BTW, I think the Oct 31st to order meant that's how long you have to actually subscribe once you get the hardware, otherwise they will charge the credit card you left with them anyway.

I'd be curious to know, especially for first timers with no other units, how many plan to take advantage of the lifetime deal. I know it is a big leap for first timers to plunk down $400, but considering the savings of ~$200 for the unit and car kit (audiovox), plus ~$140 for the required 1 year and the $15 activation savings, it is only like <$50 to have a lifetime subscription.

Of course for additional unit subscribers, the numbers don't work out as favourably.

I think it was reported that the deal was over, but apparently they are in fact still offering it. Just goes to show you that SIRIUS doesn't find it necessary to keep this forum informed of what its doing in regards to this particular promotion. It really wasn't handled through this forum as the last one was, so this maybe why.

Fifth Element: Why do you jump to conclusions in order to assume the worst in people? The information Buggy had was the truth AT THE TIME.

Does your crystal ball work with 100 percent accuracy? If so, I would love to hire you as my stock market guru. Of course, when you make your first mistake, OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!!!!

When I said it was a "lie" that the deal was off, I meant no harm. Rather I was in a hurry an wanted to avoid a lengthy explaination that in fact the updated post of it being over was incorrect.

Its kewl.... There REALLY should be some clear cut information from SIRIUS on this, but once again, they are wishy washy. This forum isn't responsible for this happening... SIRIUS needs to come on up to the plate and say.. YES we have a friend and family deal with limited supply, so get yours while they are hot. No, that would be too simple! I have never in my life seen a company that likes to complicate thing the way this one does. Makes you wonder if the left hand knows what the right one is doing.... I honestly don't think so... I know, I know.. someone will probably come post some excuses for them.

It seems to me that this was intended to be a real Friends and Family deal for the employees true F & F, but instead it got wide open on this forum and yahoo. Since the radio's were going so fast, I think they were afraid they would run out of supply and the original purpose would be lost. This is probably why they tried to slow it down by posting here.

At least that's my speculation so take it for what it's worth.

If it were supposed to be only a real friends and family deal, why did John McMullen talk about it on OutQ?

They should know that plenty of people of every sexual persuasion listen to OutQ and that the OutQ community can spread a message faster than a speeding bullet!

Because if it was for everybody, it would have been announced in a more formal way from the company, not from one individual in the company. All of the SJ should have been mentioning it then.

You know Manco, this is just horse manure... Sorry... When you make an announcment on a stream such as OutQ its out there in the public PERIOD! There is no defense or no excuse for the poor handling of this regardless. But it is par for the course with how SIRIUS handles stuff. Somethings never change. For the life of me, I don't understand why you find it necessary to make excuses and defend this crap.
