YES, very much so and he was trying that $9.99 vs $12.95 BS, but I clarified what you get for that $2.96, which is always left out.

He is pro XM which is fine. If Sirius were not around I would get XM. I do think that most people do not know that they have a choice in satellite radio.

Here I has my hand smacked for being Pro Sirius.

Well I'm sure this topic might strike up a nice little war.

I'm with XM, looked at both over the past 2 weeks and finally made my choise after reading posts here, Dodge Truck World and www.xmfan.com. I know XM only has 2 satellites and Sirius has 4 (I think), however XM has been around longer, has a better stock price, the analyst but there month on XM as the stronger company. Now you can't have Tit w/o Tat or Yin w/o Yang, so I'm sure it's good to have Sirius around, competition and all that jazz.

I mainly choose XM over Sirius for two reasons:

1) XM had more Christian channels (3 for XM, 2 for Sirius - if you include Gospel)
2) XM Roady and SkiFi look better, IMHO, than the Sirius Audiovox units.

I have Sirius in my Ram (factory set up) and I just installed a Sirius Shuttle in my Girlfriends car (very trick, easy install, just stick it to the dash, and install antenna. Very Easy).

I chose Sirius for the following reasons.

1. NO COMMERCIALS
2. The ability to listen to Fox News, NPR, and 60 commercial free music channels.
3. Partnership with DC (Ford, DC with Sirius) and (GM with XM)
4. Lifetime Membership option ($399)
5. Additional Subscriptions $6.99 a month
6. Have a buddy that had both and he recently canceled XM and kept Sirius

In addition to GM, XM also has vehicle manufacturer partnerships with Acura, Audi, Honda, Infiniti, Isuzu, Lexus, Nissan, Saturn, and Toyota.

The Sirius "lifetime" subscription is only for the lifetime of the receiver, not the lifetime of the subscriber. If your receiver is replaced, you won't be able to transfer the "lifetime"subscription to a new receiver.

XM has multi-year plans with no obligation; cancel at any time and receive a prorated refund: http://www.xmradio.com/service_subsc...bscription.jsp

XM is only $9.99/month base rate vs. $12.95/month for Sirius, with additional radios $6.99/month.

This is NEVER clarified, but what do you get for the extra $2.96 per month. You get EVERY music stream/channel with NO commercials. No sponsored by's no commericals PERIOD. XM will say they have 35 channels that don't have commercials, but review the list closely because it is mainly the better and more popular channels, with the exception of their 90's channel that have them. Don't just buy the line that is thrown out there that they are cheaper. As we have all come to realize over the years, cheaper is usually not better and that is true in this case too.

By the way, I am an XM and SIRIUS subscriber, but the above mentioned are the facts that are always left out.

I am a Sirius and XM subscriber too. Sirius is far superior in their programming in my opinion. The commercials sometimes bother me on XM. Epscially on their "commercial free" channels when they say sponsored by. It's really a mini commercial. I sometimes ask myslef why am I paying for commercials. But then I answer myself by saying I like to have over 200 channels of radio. Also, what DABSter said about the price is very true. You get what you pay for.

Theoretical Question.

You buy the lifetime subscription on one receiver, use it for 5 years and the technology is totally out of date, wouldn't a new receiver then only cost 6.95 a month if you just kept the lifetime one activated even if you never used it?

My understanding is that any subscriptions between 2 and 4 are only $6.99 from that point on. Who would be crazy enough to call and cancel a life time subscription?

Actually I think I will "buy the line" that XM is cheaper than Sirius because in fact it is. Whether you think it's worth the extra $3/month to be commercial free is strictly an opinion judgement.
