Default This doesn't make sense to me....

Why does an individual Kenwood antenna cost more than the car cradle hookup? My car antenna recently stopped functioning as all I get is antenna error in my car (too much moving the whole unit in and out of my glovebox to hide from potential thieves is my guess why it broke).. I tried to price out a new antenna online and found prices ranging from $50-70, but the whole car "kit" and kaboodle costs $30. I guess I need to get a whole new car kit to be cost effective.

I don't know. Maybe they will come out with a new antenna seperately sometime soon. Or maybe the car kits will go up once they have sold enough PNP's.

A replacement for a broken part doesn't fly off the shelf like something that sells both to people replacing something broken and to people adding something new. It just costs more to sell and is a bigger risk to put on the shelf. Mass production economics. It seems wasteful but it works.
