Default My new "Sirius" Car Wash!

For us die hard Sirius freaks, we know all the tricks, like parking on the outside pumps near the edge of the canopy in an attempt to keep getting our satellite signal.

So this mornig, I was in the new laser wash in South Boston, VA. I didn't notice till about half way through the wash - and inside the building, but I still had Sirius going strong! My signal Strength was 1 to 2 bars.

Went back tonight with the girlfriend's VW Beetle and same thing, it works like a champ inside the car wash! No windows and I was 10 feet inside the building on either side.

So it looks like I have a new car wash!

Owww. I thought I should never drive into an automated place like that with the antenna on the roof.

I have the streamer micro antenna right now. Had no problems and multiple washes. But I've added some double stick tape to it. Previously I had the antenna from the Kenwood H2A car kit on the car, just stuck on with the magnet on the bottom of the antenna. I have gone through soft cloth car washes with that antenna, it didn't move an inch.

That's neat. I thought you were going to say you won the Pamela Anderson car wash promotion.

I think Pam would move the antenna. Since she thinks Sirius is Cable Radio she probably would be looking for a giant cable coming out of the car.

I was pretty sure Sirius would not have put a repeater in there. It's a One-Walmart-No-Applebees type of town. But I checked it on the "Antenna Pointing" display on my streamer, sure enough, no repeater and 3/10 or 7/10 for signal strength. I was impressed.

I'm also thinking that building has a pretty cheap roof on it, but still.

That is not unusual to get the signal while the car is in something like a carwash building. In fact, I can get a signal while my car is parked under my carport.

I have a Beetle too, and to keep kids from stealing the antenna, I have it under my middlle dash panel. Even under plastic, a dash matt, and glass....I still get a decent signal in carwashes....
