Default Why did you get satellite radio?

I received my equipment and subscription as a gift - but if I had to pick, I'd say it would be more listening choices.

I picked becuase I was SICK of comercials... and I dont like buying a ton of cds to get variety. I wanted better sound quality too, and I love the number of chanels on sirius.
But def. it was the comercial free music, I like how its nationwide too. Now that Im at school its real nice becuase we only get 2 fm stations out here and thats just really anoying

I love modern/hard rock, but in my market there were 4 alternative tations that played just about all punk, one hard/classic rock station(I hate having hard/classic rock mixed), and the only station that was a pure modern rock was just a little too far away(WBCN in Boston).

I would have subscribed to Sirius even if Octane was the only stream that I liked.

I got my tuner for free with the friends and family deal. I didn't really know the extent of the choice or service Sirius would offer. I was considering putting in a Music Keg in my car, or an iPod or the such. I also live in Rural VA and there are very few FM stations here, and no good rock stations.

Sirius Radio has not only more than satisfied me, it has totally taken away my desire to buy a Music Keg and I now have 4 tuners and a boom box.

Much more than I ever expected.

I hate commercials, and stupid yelling DJ's.

Three reasons...

1. Commercial-free...
2. More music channels than I can possible listen to...
3. I love sports-radio and in Lansing, MI, the sports talk is brutal. Now I get ESPN Radio and ESPN News and don't have to listen to our local sports programming...

I could keep going - but, basically it was the commercial-free option that led to my choice over XM.

I picked Nationwide coverage, because any FM channels they have around here drop out too much. And when I travel, it is nice to not have to bring a CD collection. Of course with commercials I wouldn't have taken the plunge, and likewise it needed to have a good music selection to make it worthwhile.

Backspin... I love old school rap like Run-DMC and stuff like that... I thought I had it with XM, but that channel played stuff that i had no interest in... Its not even on my XM presets anymore (i only have 5)

I heard a demo of Backspin, and i had to get Sirius... I can listen to Backspin all day and never think about changing the channel.. I need to balance out my musical tastes, so I do change every so often tho)

(only complaint is that they play too many versions of the Roxanne songs)

Manco - good call on the nationwide coverage...I forgot about that.

My wife and I do frequent road-trips and this is going to be awesome...can't wait to try it out on the road.

40-50k miles a year on the road.

Sirius makes the trips MUCH shorter.

I have no idea what category that fits under most.

I just know I got Sirius the first day it was available in WV. I've never looked back.
