Default Channel Update on the 7th in 2 - 5 minutes

I just got a nice new channel guide in the mail today with all the new channels listed on it. It says that when I turn on my radio on the 7th that I shouldn't change any channels during that time.

Are updates only occurring on the 7th? I'll be out of town until about the 3rd week of July. Will I need to call Sirius to get a special update? I'm guessing that it isn't like activating a radio, but hey I'm still a newbie, and probably should be able to ask at least 3 more dumb questions.

Hey Mike,

When you get back and turn your tuner on it will take a few minutes and automatically update. You won't have to do anything but turn the unit it on.

Cool thanks. It's a good thing that I'll have high speed internet access at the hotel I'm staying at so I will not be totally without Sirius music.

SWEET!!! I know what you mean, I generally try to stay at a hotel with fast access for this very reason. Though I have been known to lug my boombox with me. Of couse getting a signal in a hotel room with SIRIUS sometimes is impossible.

I also noticed the update will occur at 5 AM ET on the 7th (tomorrow). I had wondered when the update occured. I thought it will happen at or after Midnight or something like that.

Or at least get a room on a really high floor so you can pick off wireless access from another hotel or business hotspot. I stayed at the Delta Airport West in Toronto one weekend, and they only had high speed internet in select rooms at $10 a day! Luckily, I was able to pick up a signal from The Stage hotel down the street and get free wireless access off of them!

I'm on the road at night during the week and I can tell you from experience that most, if not all, updates do occur at 5:00AM. Of course if your radio isn't on at that time it will occur the next time you turn it on.

Strange morning update. I was prepared for at least 3 minutes of updating of my Kenwood DDX 7015 in my Toyota. I started the vehicle and Sirius started playing immediately. There were 2 coughs of a second or two, but the radio updated on ignition and all new channels were there.

I started my car expecting atleast two minutes of dropout. Music came right up with the indicator showing my #1 preset was on. Not hearing what I was expecting to hear on Octane 20, I looked at the display and it read Symphony something. I toggled over to see what stream I was on. It read 80. Still hearing music, I figured the update was done. I hit my second preset and it was correct. I hit the first preset again and Octane was back. This was all in a 45 second window and didn't have any drop outs the rest of my way to work.
