Default Channels for Sports on Sirius

If Sirius wants to keep up customer satisfaction for their sports offering they need to make it easy to find out what channels games are on.

Sirius needs to create a BANK of Play by Play channels

For example... Channels 185-195....

Call them Play By Play Sports:

185-Play By Play 1
186 Play By Play 2
etc. etc. etc.......

When games are not being played there would be no audio coming from those channels so that there is no bandwith being taken away!

However, when sports are on the Play by Play channels and other channels are being pre-empted the audio for the other channels are zeroed out.

This way the NFL games will always be in a bank together rather than all over the dial on Sirius on channels like Bloomberg Radio, The Weather Channel, Radio Catolica Mundial etc.!

There has been discussion here before about different ways Sirius could re-map or echo the pre-empted streams in a block of dedicated streams. Seems like a good idea to me.

i tried to find those threads, but couldn't.

i just don't understand why sirius doesn't do it other than because it makes too much sense and sirius tends to overlook the obvious!

We think alike, here is a thread I started back in February suggesting the same thing.

if sirius does not group the live play by play sports like has been suggested for months, i think that it would be appropriate for subscribers to receive an explanation as to why they are not!

if the radios are not capable of doing this or it would take too much bandwith then those are valid excuses, but i think that Sirius' keeping quiet and not responding is inappropriate and not the way to keep subscribers satisfied.

Thanks for the link forecheck. I was thinking I was crazy when I couldn't find the thread. It was a good idea then, and a better idea now.

Default grouping channels for sports

Good idea. I often wondered during the NBA season where the games were. With the skip and add option on most of the receivers it is hard to find the games each night. Let's hope Sirius listens...

Although I'm not a big NFL/NBA/NHL fan, I will definately tune in to Alabama college football when I cannot find it on TV. On my PNP2, I can browse by channel, title, artist (channel, teams, score) with the look ahead feature and I know that I can find my game real quick.

I think this might be better suited in the SIRIUS Request Line forum so it will be easier to see for those looking for input at SIRIUS. I'll wait a while and if no objections, I'll move it.
