Default how many actual subs???

I heard the other day on new country, that SIRIUS is just now reaching 2 million subs., WTF????? I could have sworn that we are up more than that!!!! I am telling you it is all about promotions, and the sirius promotional team ain't cuttin the mustard!!!! I went to compusa the other day and all they had was a cardboard display with XM and SIRIUS and no working unit for sirius at all, but XM was at least on display, what gives .......they need working or at least sample units in ALL stores!!!! And don't forget the car dealerships!!! Is anybody listening???? and send a stack of stickers to all the stores, to promote the channels, how much can it hurt, I'm telling you it will hurt alot if subs don't go up even with HOWIE coming in less than 5 months. SIRIUS better get it's SHIT together. pardon my direct language.

This is one of the slowest periods of the year for sales, so there's no reason to think they would be at 2M yet. I expect them to reach 2M around the end of this month. The 4th quarter is the biggest quarter of the year and should be quite interesting to watch.

That was last quarter (april-june), when GM sales soared because of the Employee discount program. This quarter will probably be flat quarter over quarter for both companies because it's the slower period of the year.

They should put a tiiker/counter on their webpage showing the number of subscribers.

Primarily because of their new portable receivers.

Sirius is expected to have some portable receivers out shortly. Combined with the NFL starting its regular season soon, and Stern coming in January, look for quarters 3 and 4 to be quite strong.

While the portable helped, GM helped even more with huge sales increase (I think around 40%) due to the employee discount program.

With Ford now doing a similar promotion, its a shame they aren't shipping that many Sirius ready vehicles.

It is a shame. But what are ya gonna do, after all this is Sirius we're talking about. IMO had they been more aggressive with Ford early on they might have been reaping the benefits of this now.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe the subs that come with the GM deal are trial subs, which only last a few months, and in many cases will not be renewed.

Whereas those who paid three hundred bucks for one of the XM2Go's, plus bought subs of a non-trial nature, would tend to be longer term customers.

They specifically chose XM because they wanted satellite radio, whereas the GM car buyers were primarily interested in a new car rather than SatRadio.

True, but historically the churn rate for XM has not been very high and that includes OEMs.

I believe I read somewhere that the percent of people NOT re-subbing to XM after their year with their OEM install is 44%. This is NOT a good number at all.
