Default AUTOMATIC RE-UP FOR 1 YEAR PRE-PAID THROUGH SIRIUS

My re-up for the 1 year pre-paid passed on 7/28/05(I originally signed up on 7/28/04).

My service is still active. No problems. But I figured my Credit Card would have been hit already for the one-year pre-paid sign-up but it hasn't yet(as of 8/9/05).

How long does it take them before they re-up you? I am not complaining. Hell if I got the service for free forever (I doubt it ) through my receiver that would be great.

How long does it take them? I figured they would have done it either the day of, or a couple days after the year expired.

Anyone know?

I know two things;
1) Sirius Customer Service can get pretty screwed up. I just called yesterday because they were billing me quarterly when I signed up for the Lifetime plan with the Family Plan. The first stupid service person said you cant have the lifetime with the family plan. I said okay, hung up and called right back to talk to someone that knew what they were talking about. The second person straightened it out.
2) The Steelers do Rule!

Speaking of the Steelers, why did they give their best receiver to the Giants???

I do that ALL the time. Pretty much works like a charm. So does hitting zero's repeatedly on older systems. That forces the attendant console (operator) to answer.

Pretty sure he's referring to Plaxico.

He was referring to Plax, but HINES WARD is their BEST receiver, period, so they still have him.

I can't wait until Plax drops that first wide open fade pattern/or bomb that was a sure touchdown. NY fans are going to POUNCE on his ARSE!!

Anyway, thanx for the heads up on the cust. service. If I run into problems, I will try what some have suggested with calling them. That's a big IF I run into problems. As long as the service is still active, that will be fine. If it goes by a month or two and still nothing, I will call. I would hate not to do anything for a year or two, and then get wacked for the past payments and then a new re-up. I will be patient.

Is there anyone out there who had no problems with their re-up? How long did it take them to charge your card?

I know some have complained in the past that Sirius just hit their card, and when they got there statement that they were being charged for another year(or 2 years/3 years, whatever they ORIGINALLY signed up for) without their knowledge.

I knew that going in that I would be re-upped automatically for a year, and that was fine. I just didn't think it wouldn't be done by now.

My guess, from personal experience, is that the charge will hit your card when you least expect it. If it is the correct charge, count yourself as very, very lucky. The other option is that for some reason they think you are being paper billed, but they never sent the bill. If this is the case, they will probably disconnect your service after a month of no payment. Maybe. If their account system is the same as last year, no one (and I do mean NO ONE) has a clue about the billing. Sirius owed me a refund, and it ended up that one of the sales managers had to figure it out from the information I gave him using a calculator.

I signed up on June 30th, 2004 for one year. They didn't shut off my service until August 8th, 2005! When I called about paying for another year, they said I would need to pay $11.94 for the one month I got for "free".

Are you sure your service doesn't go an extra 1-3 months? Usually if you sign up for a year all at once you get a few "free" months. When I signed up in May of last year I got 15 months for the price of 12.

They've had the odd promo where you got 13 months for the price of 12... I haven't seen this lately (but I don't check the "get sirius" page at www.sirius.com that often).. The standard 1 year contract is "Get 12 months for the price of 11".. (That's how I subscribe)..

Just a note.. I changed my Visa card in the middle of my subscription last year and forgot to update Sirius with the new card info. When my renewal date came up, they couldn't use the Visa they had on file so they couldn't renew my sub. They waited a month before they sent me an e-mail letting me know this... I updated things and renewed for another year.

So.. It appears they give you a months grace on yearly subs...

I REALLY HOPE they don't screw it up.

My account is pretty straightforward. 1 unit, for 1 year pre-paid, and that is it. Not a hell of alot to screw up here. I think they will get it right. If they don't, this will be the first place to share my serious displeasure with the company(along with phone calls and e-mails of course)

If Sirius screws that up, they have major problems, and that would make me re-evaluate whether or not to keep the service. I had ZERO problems with XM on this(I had semi-annual paper billing).

You would think that after 2-3 years of business, they would have figured out some of these glitches.

It is kind of scary that alot of you have had problems with the billing the way you have. Not a good way to keep customers, no matter how good the content is(and it has the better content of the two services IMHO)
