Default I was a baaaad boy yesterday

I was in Circuit City to buy a Sportster for my cousin in Canada as a "thank you" for putting me up for a week. On my way in I checked out the satellite radio display at the front of the store, as I always do, noting that the XM display faces the entrance, while the Sirius is on the back of the display. I also noted that at the rear of the store, at the car audio section where the bulk of the satellite radios and accessories are, you are greeted by a stack of XM equipment with a banner stating "#1 satellite radio provider in the world" or something to that effect. Again, the Sirius stuff is around the back of the display.

On my way out of the store, I had to stop at the front doors because a lightening storm had developed and I didn't want to get soaked or electrocuted. So I'm hanging around the front of the store, thumbing through the circular and checking out the satellite radios (again) to kill time. Suddenly feeling a bit mischievous, I step up to the XM radio that's playing over the display speakers and tune it to some talk or news station, and turn the output level down as far as it would go. Then I go around to the Sporster IR that's playing over the speakers and tune it to a rock station (I think it was the Vault or Buzzsaw) and up the output level. By then the storm had passed to I split, looking over my shoulder to see if the satellite cops were onto me. Hee hee....

Good for you! XM is only #1 in the nation because of their OEM subs anyway. In other words, most people only prefer XM because it came with their vehicle and that's all they know. I bet you most would choose Sirius if they had a choice based on Sirius' content. XM IMO is bland and boring with just a couple exceptions to that.

LOL, i was expecting a "So my friend and I lifted the display and turned it completely around" story - which we totally wouldnt have believed...

Much better story and you got the point across!

I hate these lame excuses "XM is only bigger cause" "They only push XM because of"..

Lets see here

Sirius has "almost" all sports genres covered, except mlb, indy etc
Sirius has stern, and about 30 other hack celebrity/out of their prime personalities

XM has MLB and o&a as their quote un quote selling points

On paper people would easily go with Sirius, but, even in the real world, this paper isn't working and people continue to flock to XM. If XM indeed did suck, and only had subs because of CC, BB pushing only their product, and OEM car subs, their churn rate would be high, but, it's not, it's very very very low.. Unless america is full of stupid fucking idiots, and continue to pay for a service they don't like, (yes I'm one of them stupid fucking idiots, only sticking around for another month, then goodbye) I don't see any legitimacy to anyones arguements here. Also, if you read XM sites, there are plenty, of posts consisting of "My local (insert store name here) is pro sirius"..

I'm not sirius bashing here just to amuse myself, but XM and Sirius all have "Radio" in their names, and radio is associated with "music" something XM spends their money on and Sirius doesn't.. End of discussion..

People seem to think I enjoy bashing Sirius just for the fuck of it and troll, I do but not to troll, but to bash you know why? I PAY FUCKING MONEY FOR THEIR SERVICE , and time and time and time again I get shit in return.. I'm a upset customer, and I know there are many more of you who feel the same. I see it everyday with the same questions about repeats, shit DJs, terrible programming and useless spending of money. Sirius reminds me of Microsoft, Pretty on the outside, but has more holes and lack of features then their "competitors".. Only difference is, Sirius is on the losing end and have no legitimate reason to be acting like this

Just a little correction to the above statement.....XM is ahead mainly on the strength of its OEM partnerships. GM gives away XM for 3 mos, it is standard- its not an option as it is for Sirius in Ford & Chrysler. Over half of XM's subs come from OEM, less than 30% of Sirius does. You think that might be the reason?

Whenever I go into a Circuit City and see that the SIRIUS display doesn't have any sound coming out of it and the XM side does, I flip the switch on the SIRIUS side and adjust the volume so both can be heard.

It gets me just how biased some CC employees are when it comes to satellite radio...either that or they're too lazy to turn both sides on.

About 90% of the time I see a Sirius display it's not working.

Styckx,

It's not worth having a heart attack over.

I'm not having a heart attack over it, just sick of seeing excuses for the reason sirius is lagging behind, but none of those excuses actually adressing the truth..

I agree with you to a point. IMO Sirius could do a significantly better job with their marketing. It has been noted that I'm critical of their partnership with Ford. I think they weren't nearly aggressive enough with them.

As far as the programming goes, I think it's fine. Sirius has done alot lately to add music and it's much better than used to be.

I'm bad also, whenever I go to CC or BB. I turn off the XM unit and turn on the Sirius unit and turn up the volume a bit. But one time I did a bad trick.
Sometimes when people are looking at speakers, they crank the crap out of them. So I had the Sirius unit on, I set it to Hard Attack and crank up the volume full blast and turned it off real fast. So know one notice the Sirius unit was full blast, while someone else had the speakers loud. I walked away and pretend to look at something else, but was really watching the satellite display. Some guy was looking at the display. Turned on the display, which was set to Sirius. Then it scared the crap out of him as I laughed inside of me, as I walked away. But the guy kept looking at Sirius, so I might got someone hooked on to it?

Well, I was going to type up a profanity-laced tirade, but that's already been done...

I agree with AZ Joe and would add XM's one year head start to the (short) list of reasons.
