Right this minute, Octane is playing the Edited version 'How could I just Kill A Man' by RATM. Censor any RATM and it sounds like the CD is skipping.

They need to make up their minds, which channels are censored and which ones aren't. Then stick to that!

I work in radio in a small town in Greencastle, PA. I'm the live on-air jock from midnight to 6am. I know that when music comes to us for importing and playing, much the same as Sirius receives it, it is on an audio compact disc with the cuts ALREADY EDITED by the label releasing it.

I've noticed that sirius has been playing edited content, but they themselves did not edit it.

While I agree that for $12.95, or the $500 lifetime subscription, we should be allowed to experience the unedited raw version of the song, don't attack them for playing the edited content if that's all they received.

Personally, I don't care if a song in Sirius is edited or not. If I want to hear the full version, I'll go download it. I have Sirus for their WIDE ARRAY OF CONTENT that I can listen to anywhere I drive my car inside the United States. I think their commitment to ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING and their diverse music channels is reason enough to subscribe.

If you want uncensored, Stern is on the way. Until then, can we stop attacking EACH OTHER?

You're right, most of them are probably mistakes (such as the censored versions on Faction and Shade 45 that some users have reported hearing)... They need to scrub their music library so this will not happen as often. The main problem is they purposely keep subscribers in the dark as to which channels are censored and which ones are not, which leads to threads like this. I think they fear telling the customers which channels play edited content because there are probably many streams that are "censored" that sirius wouldn't like to inform customers about.

I'm pretty sure this is related to my annoyances at Sirius regarding censorship. but since this thread began, I completely lost interest in Alt Nation & Faction - which were two of my favorite channels before all this happened..

I also was driving my wife's car for about three weeks, and was listening to Xm's Fungus and Ethel and realized I like their music selection better...

So now, my love of Sirius is primarily based on two channels - Underground Garage and Backspin... And whenever I turn on Backspin anymore, its a song I dont particularly know or like... Underground Garage still has nothing that comes close to it on XM (altho it is on terrestrial on Sunday nights)

This slippage of Sirius interest really wasnt intentional on my part... I was annoyed, but not enough to purposely not like the channels... Oh well, Im sure Sirius wont lose sleep about it...

I'm not sure if this is up to date, but it's the only thing I've ever seen officially noted, and don't think I've seen it referenced here:

That's a fascinating list. But why is it on THAT website and not on Sirius' website? That's an odd website for a list of business-friendly streams to be located on. It seems somewhat accurate, besides not including Sirius 1, which everyone knows is censored and has been for some time. This is my point, it shouldn't be a fucking riddle to figure out which channels Sirius censors!

im all for censored music...sorry,but i am.

i drive with my 12 year old and she listens to the usual crap the other day Gold Digger came on and they played the radio version...thats fine with me....

i suppose im not the only one with kids that feels this way.
Its utterly amazing that people like you would rather tell everyone thats its ok for a service that we pay for that was based on the foundation of CENSORSHIP_OFF to play edited material. BE A PARENT GET INVOLVED WITH YOUR KIDS LIFE CHANGE THE STATION IF YOU DO NOT LIKE WHATS ON! TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY INSTEAD OF BLAMING THE WORLD AND EXPECTING EVERYONE ONE ELSE TO SPOON FEED YOU AND RAISE YOUR KIDS.

srry for the soapbox but things like thiss piss me off to no end.

Here is one more thing to feed the fire. Some dush bag senator in Alaska is tring to push the FCC to start imposing same indecency regulations on Satellite and cable as it does with over-the-air broadcasters. See full story at llink below:

Does anyone know for sure is Sirius has made any official statements on the censorship issue, or is this just something they rolled out with notifying their subscribers?

I sent Jay an e-mail and he responded almost immediately-seems like nice guy. At least Sirius looks at its e-mails.

He thanked me for my concerns without a statement on policy and quite honestly that request would have been unreasonable regardless of my beating them up a little. Some issues have to be dealt with on an individual basis. Not to speak for him, but I would be very surprised if Jay failed to understand the potential that subscribers may well retaliate if content is edited (which was what I expressed to him). At the same time certain types of content, i.e., content that encourages someone to off a cop is going to cause trouble for even subscription services. These guys are not idiots nor should anyone expect them to act like idiots. This is a new company that has to build some financial stability and there are a lot of haters of this new medium out there. If you ask for everything at once, you may lose everything. It's obvious there are a lot of politicians out there that don't respect the Constitution. Let Sirius crank it up at their own speed. It may piss me off to a certain extent, but there still is a hell of a lot more freedom in this venue than on "free fm."

Well, I'm sorry because we're not paying $12.95 a month to hear censored music just to shield your goddamed kid from what you deem offensive. Jesus, can we please impose some sort of rule around here that says you can't use your child as an excuse to censor music and programming just because YOU have certain religious beliefs/values ...it's getting very old people. Learn to use the fucking parental controls like everyone else and quit trying to dictate what everyone can and can't hear. Enough already.

--------------------

dude fuck you...i could give to shits about the religious right or what they think...and if you were standing in front of me right now id rap my hands around your fucking neck and and watch you cry like the little bitch that you are....

understand!

i expect stern to be un-censored,thats why i got sirius.....this has nothing to do with my beliefs/values.that said,i won`t loose any sleep over the word nigger being cencered out from a top 40 pop station like the pulse..
Hey Merc HERE's AN IDEA! CHANGE THE CHANNEL AND BE A PARENT!!!!!! When I ride around with the 8 year old cousin of mine I DONT LISTEN TO SONGS THAT HAVE SWEARS IN THEM!!! Dont blame sirius for the fact that you are a bad parent and have no control over your kids

Is it so wrong for stations like the Pulse to play family friendly songs?

im not talking alt nation or shady45 here....just the PULSE!
