Default Censorship ?

What exactly would be censored?

The content for the Sprint customers?

or

The content everybody hears?

Thank you

Everybody.

I want to give everyone a quote from the manifest for those who haven't read it.

Except when there's money involved apparently.

Though I didn't feel it was the end of the world for them to censor those 4 channels. I have to agree with BenDee, why not just let them use some of the other channels that we know are already pretty much family safe. There is just no need to censor more channels for Sprint. I think I would have been tempted to tell Sprint what to do with their deal under these circumstances.

I am glad to see Jeff come out and take a stand as I have compiled my letter for sending off in the morning. Even though for me its not as big an issue at it is for some of you, I don't like it either and add my voice to yours in hopes of success. Lets face it if we let them have 4 channels who's to say they won't come back for more later.

There are 30 stations that have very little to no cursing on them. Sprint is not supposed to carry the full lineup anyway, so why not give them those channels. If Sprint wants censored music, they can pay Sirius extra to create a second Alt Nation/Octane/Faction that is censored.
That's what I am saying. Let them have the channels that are family friendly.

I, as many of you, sent my email (and printed letter) tonight.

Although I do not listen to the specific channels that are affected, I have taken point at some of the items listed in the manifesto and how they actually are today. Since they have changed this, I am afraid of what they may change in the future......

A few tidbits from the manifesto that I thought interesting "music_ON, Free Speech_ON, Censorship_OFF, uncompromised_ON"

If they censor, censorship_ON and uncompromised_OFF does not agree with me.

This is my main argument with the issue at hand. If they make this change now, what will happen in the future....COMMERCIALS_ON?

Have a great night. I hope our efforts help.

You should DEFINITELY send a letter and e-mail to customer service. You may be getting canned responses, but you can bet they're keeping a tally of how many people are corresponding with them on this issue, and the numbers are being reported to management.

The answer to your above question is obvious--they've got mucho dinero.

I am extremely upset by this issue. I feel there should be no censorship on any of the channels. They bleeped out MFer in A Boy Named Sue by Johnny Cash on Roadhouse. What am I paying twenty dollars a month for (two subscriptions)? If XM decides to air songs and other content unedited, I will switch in a second. Censorship is the reason I moved to satellite radio in the first place. Now that they have subscribers rolling in, they want to cancel the deal to lure in more soccer moms. Check your demographics Sirius management! Males over the age of eighteen are your largest PAYING listener base. If listeners want edited songs, they have FM and the FCC. I want to hear songs the way Johnny Cash intended.

My email has been sent, and my hard copy will be sent in the morning. I've never felt compelled to write Sirius about any complaints I've had with the service, but this is a decision that doesn't sit well with me.

My $0.02:

"
Mr Clark,

If Sirius continues to censor Alt Nation, Faction, 1st wave, and Slow Jamz I will dump my account, my three Sirius tuners, and switch to XM. If I wanted to listen to edited music I would just listen to FM. Why pay for the same thing?

We have been Sirius subscribers for one year and have very much enjoyed it, but if Sirius thinks that censoring channels so they are 'sanitized' for use by Sprint is what they want to do, then Sirius is deciding they don't want business from loyal customers such as me and my family. Considering that one of the major selling points of Sirius was the lack of FCC regulations it seems like a major backpedal and a serious poke in the eye to long time customers.

Don't get me wrong, I have young children, and I appreciate being able to listen to certain chans without fear of them hearing obscene language...but Alt Nation and Faction? Come on! I live in So California and have several FM chans that play the same music as Alt Nation and Faction...add commercials and Sirius will be right in step...same edited content.

"Censorship is more profane than a few profanities" -Sirius

Thanks for your attention, please feel free to contact me for discussion."

I sent an email just now. I will call tommorrow morning and send a letter tommorow afternoon. We should not give them a pass on any channels. I think that we should mandate that all channels be free of censorship and editing. I am paying a premium for a sub-standard product.

Good man! That's the way to do it, hit them from as many angles as possible.

Send a letter AND e-mail to BOTH Jay Clark and customer service.

hey off the top of your head, whats the address to customer service?

I'm betting Johnny's reaction to this censorship would be:
