I'm a sirius dog at heart, but i also like xm. I have my s50 for sirius and xpress for xm.
I like sirius for:
howard, nfl, rock(faction!!), spa 73
i like xm for: dance/electronic, top 20 on 20, 90's(i'm a 90's kid and it takes me back), watercolors.
both are good, but i'll have sirius as along as i have sat. radio.

I picked Sirius because my Mom and dad have it on their dish network and I knew I had to have it then Howard signed and it was a done deal.

Sirius was an impulse buy after driving for 10 hours and hearing the same damn song repeated a dozen times on an equal number of channels. They had both Sirius and XM for sale at that truck stop. I picked Sirius because, at the time, all the XM channels I was interested in, based on their one sentance descriptions, had an extra cost. At the time, I thought it was an extra charge for each channel. Sirius was all channels for a single price.

I considered picking up an XM unit after Sirius parted with Fox News because I was thinking about getting back into truck driving. While I'm happy to hear that Fox and Fox NewsTalk is returning, I'm considering getting XM again just to hear the difference in programming.

Have both...Sirius decades channels rock and just make more sense. Sirius Gold is good for some of the road trips I've taken lately.

Thumbs up

My wife picked Sirius for me. She surprised me for Christmas 2004 with satellite radio. She chose Sirius mainly because of NFL.

I'm a radio guy and living in the New York area a lot of DJ's I've either worked with and/or listened to are on Sirius. Also, I was dissatisfied with the overly researched playlists on terrestrial radio. But ultimately the deciding factor that made me finally take the plunge was Stern; I've been listening to him since the 80's.

I can't stand Howard... never have been able to... but I chose Sirius for the music channels (I've got Dish Network, and have listened some to the XM music channels, too), the fact that NASCAR is moving in January to Sirius and the college football networks they're carrying.

Howard, NFL, and Crimson Tide Football.

For me the music is an added bonus.

Howard, the NFL Channel
But so far, I also like the CHILL.
This is my first week with Sirius and I told myself no cds this week.
So far, it hasn't been a problem.
The only disappointment has been SQ

I picked Sirius because of Hard Attack, the heaviest music on or off the planet! XM had zero heavy metal channels at the time, so that cost them a sub. :-)

Howard. But once I had it, I couldn't live with out it. If Howard were not here, I'd still keep it....unless he was on a different Satellite provider.

typical played songs..........

Sirius - The biggest hits by a particular band/artist

XM - The 9th track on the bands/artists worst CD ( that VERY few know)

I had XM for 2 years, and there's some channels on XM, that NEVER once did i reconize the song, or artist. XM plays some VERY obscure music.
Sirius apeals more to the general public
