I borrowed an XM Radio from my boss for a week. A friend let me borrow his Sirius for a few days. It was apparent quickly that Sirius was theone for me.

Main reasons:
1. Hair Nation
2. NFL
3. Maxim Radio
4. Generally liked music better on Sirius
5. Stiletto

Default Why I changed from XM to Sirius

I changed for Nascar and the fact that XM had commercials on some of their music channels. I have to tell you XM has Sirius beat when it comes to the ability to get a signal. I cannot get a reliable signal at my house and I never had that problem with XM. Sirius has great music (1st wave), but they have a lot to learn in the technology!

Funny you mention this (on signals), in my parts, people bitch constantly about XMs signal and say sirius is much much more reliable. Several peeps I know dumped XM just because the signal drops constantly where Sirius is constant.

I personally rarely drop a signal (with Sirius) ... even under heave tree cover. My buddy with XM dropped his because he barely gets a signal in his area of CT. One tree knocks him out for 30 seconds.

I bought Sirius because I wanted Howard and Nascar. I love talk radio.

Since I've had Sirius the only other channels I listen too is Buzzsaw. Love that old heavy metal. Iron Maiden rulez LoL.

Wish they carried more NHL games for the canadian subscriptions. Hockey is number1 here.

Sirius is generally better for outdoor coverage when outside of the repeater network. But if you don't have a strong repeater in your area, do yourself a favor and place the antenna outside like it is recommended. You will get 100% signal that way.

Hi I am new to Sirius and I am very happy with the reception and programming.

I live down in Puebla Mexico 700-1000 kilometers from the border and had XM for the last 3 years. Since XM start offering service to Canada and move Sats, with car antena you get only reception from one Satellite and every minute you are loosing reception.
I went to the States last week for vacations and bought a Stratus and I am glad to inform that the reception is best compared to XM down in Mexico.
Main reason of changing from XM was reception.

I first heard Sirius a year ago on vacation in Myrtle Beach. An outside bar was playing 1st Wave, and I love that music. I have friends with both XM and Sirius so I've been exposed to both. Sirius was the one I liked best.

I didn't realize how much I missed Howard in the mornings, either! Sirius rocks and Stern is no small reason!

I'm seriously (no pun intended) ready to take Xm out of my car and put Sirius in there instead. Sirius plays more of the music that I like. I find myself searching and searching for music that I like on XM.

There are more and more XM'ers dumping their subscription and doing what your thinking about.. Im one who did this about a year ago and glad I did.. Just got tired of all the flipping around the channels and sooo many songs I was not familiar with and the lack of a 80's rock channel.

Why wait, join the Big Dog!!!

Well I just switched up.
I was part of the XM Nation for the last four years and finally made the switch. After listening to other friends with Sirius subs..and then getting back into my veichle..dissapointed I figured I would make the jump.
I have my presets filled already and can't figure out why it took me so long.
The content is the biggest reason I switched, the channel lineup is just much more what I am looking for.

Welcome to the

I too have had XM, but just couldn't get into the overall music lineup. There was one channel I liked in particular on that service, but the rest was mostly disappointing or better on Sirius (imo).

I did the 3 day online trial of both XM and Sirius.

I did XM first and was impressed as my first exposure to sat radio, but then I listened to Sirius and liked their music line up much better. I mainly listen to rock and Octane is my number 1 preset. I like Sirius' classic rock channels better too...Classic Vinyl and Classic Rewind are other favorites of mine.

The other thing that swayed me is the NFL. I'm a big football fan so it made sense. XM has baseball, which I like, but I only would ever listen to the home team, so I have access to all their games on AM anyway.

Now that I've had Sirius going on 2 years now, I don't think I could ever go back to not having sat radio and specifically Sirius. My g/f had XM for a while, but I could never find anything good on that I liked, and missed getting updates of NFL scores when we were in her car. I've since shown her the light and got her into Sirius. I got her a Starmate 4 for Xmas! She loves Movin' Easy, The Bridge, Starlite and the Pulse, along with Cosmo radio and Radio classics.

My favorite things about Sirius:

1. Octane
2. NFL radio
3. Maxim Radio - specifically Covino & Rich, those guys are hilarious
4. Classic Rock channels
5. NBA games
6. Pure Jazz and Spa 73
7. Not a huge Howard Stern fan, but listen from time to time because I can
8. Discovery Channel
9. Radio Classics is fun to listen to while camping / at the cabin
10. the Stiletto
