Same here....back in late 2002 I didnt see anywhere in XM's advertising that said commerical freee music. Also at the time there were 2 or 3 channels on XM that were like a $1.99 more. I went with Sirius and have been with them ever since!

i don't have Sirius yet, but will soon. But I can answer this thread question similarly as to why I'm picking Sirius over XM. The Stiletto for one, Nascar, NFL, Howard Stern, and of course all the music genres. For me Sirius is better.

Default OutQ

I chose Sirius over XM for a few reasons.

1. I knew Sirius was planning the OutQ station.

2. Sirius had the "ganas" to charge a few dollars more per month than XM. You have to sit up and take notice at that. It turns out that you get what you pay for.

3. I was able to have Sirius installed as a dealer option on my car.

I have been more than happy with my Sirius service and have filled every preset on my tuner with stations that i listen to often. I did not have enough presets for the stations that i only listen to occasionally but still enjoy.

I would never give up my Sirius and havent gone without since November of '02 and I maintain receivers on my account. One in my car, one at home, and one in my "office" (I'm A Truck Driver)

Rock On!

At the time, I thought the XL markings on XM's play list ment they charged more to listen to those stations. The stations marked XL were the only ones that appealed to me. I didn't want to pay extra.

Sirius was an impulse buy at a truck stop in PA. It was the best impulse buy I've ever made. I did zero research before hand. I just looked at the channel guides and went with the dog. Glad I did that.

I have both XM & SIRIUS, but listen 97% of the time to SIRIUS: my wife loves Flight 26 and forces me to listen to it when we drive, and I'm hooked Radio Margaritaville & Howard.

I really only keep the XM because the radio cost so much (an Inno) and my wife & brother have XM in their cars. That and my compulsive NEED to have both services...just "in case" something big gets announced (yeah...I'm a geek...).

Since I'm a brand new sub I thought I'd give my reasons.

A friend of mine has XM and my parents have DirecTV with XM, so I was pretty familiar with their selections. When I got my Dish Network hooked up 2006, I started to listen to the Sirius stations a lot and comparing them to the XM stations. I found that the musical selections on Sirius were far better than what I heard on XM (at least for my tastes). Now, about a year later, I'm a Sirius sub.

I know Mel isn't big on having the service on Dish Network, but, in my case, that's a HUGE reason I went with Sirius.

Lets get started..
As I drive I-15 daily between Nevada and Utah XM drops out in the Virgin
river gorge and Sirius never drops out.

It really wasn't my decision. I traded in my Toyota which had XM installed for a Ford Truck. I asked the dealer if they can put in XM but they told me that Sirius was the only option so I canceled XM and went with Sirius.

Not complaining as I can listen to Howard Stern again and NFL Games. Also, there's some channels that I can't remember an XM equivalent, The Bridge and Buzzsaw.

I bought Sirius today after thinking it over for a couple of months.

I still love XM and my Inno.

I haven't had a chance to listen to my Stratus yet, but I doubt I'll be disappointed.

You won't be

That is until three weeks later you come in here and bitch about sound quality and whatnot and complain about how many times in a day that Buzzsaw repeats "breaking the chains" and "Enter Sandman".

I can see one subscription to one service but I don't understand throwing your money away on both companies and or multiple subscriptions.
