I switched to Sirius from XM because of the following.

1. XM dropping Nascar and Sirius picking up Nascar
2. Sirius better programming expecially carrying a format that plays the main stream 80's and early 90' rock format with Hair Nation.
3. Better receivers
4. Better options for subsription deals
5. Sound Quality is much better

Default I went with Sirius because...

I'm a big time dance fan and just LOVED Remix 62 and the dance on XM sucked. But now that sirius did the DUMBEST thing ever, dumping Remix, I might think twice. Sirius really needs to bring back this channel and get rid of Boombox instead.

Default Also...

The Sirius dance stations have been so molested they are nowhere close to what they used to be when I signed on. And the repetition that this service offers has got me to the point where I am flipping constantly.

I do not understand why they need 8 stations that can play the same classic rock song at one time or the other but yet on stations like the purported Classic Dance, they still play the same narrow playlist over and over and over.

Sirius is actually boring me now so much that I find myself spending time deafulting to the one type station I spent most of time on XM ...

I couldn't agree with you more! The dance channels on sirius have been changed around so much it's rediculous. Once you find a good dance channel, it gets removed. House Party, Remix, The Vortex were the BEST dance stations sirius had and now they're all gone! When I got sirius, the dance category had so much to choose from, but now there are 2 dance stations that DO NOT BELONG (Chill and Boombox)! One thing that pisses sirius customers off to no end is when they do these channel lineup changes because lots of people get disappointed when their favorite channel is removed. This is one area where XM knows what they're doing! Remix needs to be brought back!!!

Default Sirius over XM: My reasons...

Living in New England (Connecticut), I felt the difference in the way the satellites are set up to orbit might make a difference.

My feeling is that it may be better with Sirius satellites and their "figure-8" orbital patterns that keep two "birds" over the US.

The equatorial-orbital satellites that XM has makes me a bit leery of solid reception. My feeling on the satellite issue: If I'm going to pay for radio, I darn well want rock-solid reception--or get as close as I can to that goal!

Other than that: Ya gotta love the underdog!

I dumped XM upon realizing that all I listened to was Opie and Anthony, and they weren't worth $12 a month.

I'm much happier with my $10 year Audible subscription.

when I met someone this past summer in Wildwood NJ they had an XM on their porch and I thought it was killer, so I wanted to get that at first, but then one day when I told my friend I was getting one, he said the magic 6 words: "No dude, XM sucks, get Sirius!"

and so I looked the 2 over on their sites, and Sirius had a lot better-looking stations

XM is still allright for what it is though... but Sirius smokes it

I switched to Sirius from xm about a month ago.
My only reason for switching at the time was because of NFL Coverage

but now that i have Sirius the programming is much better. Im glad I made the switch.

Had Sirius for the past 8 months

Bought XM last week to try it, but already know XM is not for me.

Octane is the #1 reason why I feel Sirius is the best and will be keeping it.

Default My Top 5 Reasons

It came down to a number of factors (listed below in order of importance):

1.) After listening on-line extensively for two 3-day trials, I felt that Sirius played more of the music I was interested in listening to. I am one who likes many different genres of music (except country) and the way Sirius segregated the various styles appealed to me.

2.) Rock! I could not get past the variety of rock (soft, hair bands, metal and even some of the thrash metal selections). IMO, this is the main area XM was lacking.

3.) Obscurity. XM simply played a lot of music from bands I was not interested in listening to.

4.) Sports. Being originally from the Philadelphia region, the ability to listen to Merrill Reese announcing the NFL games was hard to resist.

5.) Hardware. I liked the diversity and features that Sirius offered.

Regards,

Skipper
