It took me a month to decide between the 2. I had program guides for both services. I was looking for a good 80's line up and plus I was looking for oldies like from the 50's to the 70's. (Which both had).I listened to both online for the 3 day trial and they both seemed the same to me. I actually think it was because of Stern that I chose Sirius because I thought that the music chanels were about the same. But now that I got sirius- I'm glad I picked it because of all the rants from all the former XM'ers....oohhh and by the way.... did i say that HAIR NATION RULES CHANNEL 23 ........!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sirius is actually boring me now so much that I find myself spending time deafulting to the one type station I spent most of time on XM ...

I couldn't agree with you more! The dance channels on sirius have been changed around so much it's rediculous. Once you find a good dance channel, it gets removed. House Party, Remix, The Vortex were the BEST dance stations sirius had and now they're all gone! When I got sirius, the dance category had so much to choose from, but now there are 2 dance stations that DO NOT BELONG (Chill and Boombox)! One thing that pisses sirius customers off to no end is when they do these channel lineup changes because lots of people get disappointed when their favorite channel is removed. This is one area where XM knows what they're doing! Remix needs to be brought back!!!

Dude, this topic is played. Get over it.

The NFL channel and all of the NFL game broadcasts.

I subscribed this summer and have not been disappointed one bit! Love it.

Had Sirius not had the NFL ... I don't know what I would have done.

my friend John told me that Sirius beats XM to hell. They've got better content [stern vs opie and anthony] [NFL vs MLB]. My friend John swears that Sirius is better. Where john and I work has XM and all I can say is how awful XM really is. They play the same songs over and over again. Even the XMelots over there are complaining about how many times they overplay artists like Olivia Newton John and Alantis morrisette.

I chose to get sirius due to the fact i've gotten into listening to Howard Stern again on FM radio and now that he's leaving for Sirius that was a major decision.

I also like Octane 20 and the NFL and sports coverage on Sirius.

I compared the two services and Sirius by far has more options for me then XM does.

I also have XM but that is due to DirecTV carrying them insted of MusicChoice as of November 15, 2005. By far from listening to XM i'm glad I chose sirius.

Default Reason for Sirius

My boss has Sirius so I got to listen to it and I liked the music selection and the sports talk that they offered. They use to have Mayhem in the AM out of Atlanta which was a good morning talk show. I also like the Rivals radio especially during college football season. My favorite music channels are Alt Nation, Hair Nation, and Faction. Lance Armstrong radio is cool when he decides to do a show.

I did a lot of research. I figured that Sirius being based in NYC would get Howard, so that had a lot to do with it. But SBS had a lot to do with it too. I also looked online and found that (at the time) Sirius was allowing people to listen to live content whereas XM previews were prerecorded. This indicated that Sirius was much more comfortable letting people sample the true product.

Default why

I first subscribed when SIRI reported they had only 69k subs !! At first I subscribed to support my investment, I had no idea what I was really in for. As a musician and music lover, it opened the doors. I was used to new commercial free music in my house with DMX but to take that concept into a car? Incredible...

2 + years later, all my cars have SIRI, can't drive without it. In no order

1.) Alt Nation
2.) Left Of Center
3.) First Wave
4.) 70's
5.) Stern - he was icing on the cake

3 letters.... N F L

(with minor reasons being Notre Dame football and the NHL which as it turns out is going to be a short-lived benefit).

Has anyone else tried XM since DirecTV started streaming it?

After trying it, I can safely say that I am very glad I picked Sirius instead. Not only is the programming better, but trying to figure out which channel is which on XM is next to impossible without looking at a description (Ethyl, Eye, Fred, Vivo? Come on. Not exactly as straightforward as Classic Vinyl, Hard Attack or The Vault).

On a side note, if you just have the Total Choice package you don't get all the stations. If you upgrade to the Plus package then you get the other dozen or so channels. I'm not sure if this is the fault of XM or DirecTV but it is annoying nonetheless.

Overall: I feel very lucky to have gone with Sirius

even though my dtv receiver is connected to the stereo, I've never used dtv to listen to music so it doesn't matter much to me. and I surely have no incentive to spend more money on their packages to receive more channels I won't listen to

I have listened to it, but when a new song comes on unless you press display on the remote it won't show you the artist / song title info. I just listen in my office so I can see the display on my Skyfi2.

I agree whole heartedly that Sirius is way better than Xm, IMHO. With XM now on Direct TV it has just reaffirmed my opinion. I did actually listen to music choice on Direct TV, but since the switch I can't seem to find anything on there to listen to. I guess I will just have to bring my Starmate (soon to be a new replay) in and hook it up to the home theatre for real music choice and listening.

Default SIRIUS VS. XM

I bought SIRIUS today, as a matter of fact, because I liked the JACK-type channel, SUPER SHUFFLE. I have been listening to SS on Dish network, and enjoyed the selection, and how wide of a variety it had. I have been toying with getting SIRIUS since I started listening to it on DISH, and liked how it was more hit based, and didn't play such obscure music.

Another thing that I like about SIRIUS is their sound quality, it seems better than XM to my ears, I really don't know why. XM seems to have some annoying type compressed sound. Even though SIRIUS is the same, I could not tell as much that it is compressed. I am using the STARMATE with the FM Modulator.

I had XM for 3 years, and now have SIRIUS. I am glad I made the switch over to SIRIUS!
