Default Lifetime Sub Upgrade

Once I swap out my PNP2 for my S50 when it gets here on Monday I plan on upgrading to the lifetime subscription via sirius.com (I noticed it was an option last time I was in looking at my account). Has anyone done the upgrade through the website or over the phone. I'm currently a 15 month for 12 subscriber and my plan renewed in june.

It was interesting that there are two options: one to upgrade immediately, and one to upgrade at the end of my current subscription period. Do you think they prorate how much I paid in June and apply the left over amount towards my lifetime upgrade? The second part seems like something that they would not do.

If no one knows I'll just have to interrogate the customer service rep i get when switching my subscription to my S50.

Others have posted that existing subscriptions have been prorated, but it never hurts to confirm before making the change.

Roadrunner is correct, I would call them and have them walk you through it. I would also get the extended warranty on the S50 if I were putting lifetime on it.

When I upgraded my 1st unit to lifetime- they prorated what I already paid for my yearly renewal- When you call CS they will give you the prorated amount and let you you know the difference for lifetime.
You did not mention if you were going to use the PNP2 as a second unit, so make sure you let them know that this is swap so they don't charge the $15 activation charge by mistake.

Do you guys recommend getting the extended warranty EVERY TIME someone buys the lifetime subscription? I'm buying the Sportster Replay today.

What happens if you have a lifetime subscription but have to do a trade in do to a warranty issue? I have the XAXT XTR1 and recently had to send it in for replacement? I don't know if the new one will make it 5 years my last one only lasted 11 months.

It's really a personal desicion on getting a warranty- If you are not one to switch units and are happy with yours than it's worth it. If you have a warranty or in the event the unit get's stolen with a police report- there will be no transfer fee if the unit has to be replaced due to these issues. If you decide on switching on your own then there will be the charge of $75.

When I bought lifetime it was $399 and the only way you could transfer it was if the unit was replaced under warranty. I got a factory installed radio and then bought a 5 year / 100,000 warranty that not only covered my truck but my Sirius tuner and Radio since it was factory equipment that was dealer installed.

If I were getting a S50 I would get the warranty, on a Sportster replay maybe not, if you don't have a warranty it will cost you $75 to transfer the warranty and then you will need to buy a new radio. If the warranty is around the same money then perhaps it makes sense.

If a receiver swap is made under a warranty exchange with a lifetime plan, you're not charged the $75.00 fee nor does the swap count under the 3 receiver limit.

Definitely not using the PNP2 anymore, my S50 will replace that although I hate to do it with the boombox and everything. Oh well, I've waited for the new technology and it is here. Anyway thanks all for answering my question, certainly going to do the swap first, get that up and running, then upgrade to lifetime.

You won't regret the lifetime-
Don't forget to pass on the PNP2 to a family or friend so then can subscribe and keep the Sirius family growing

I'm sure I won't regret it, I like it now that I can transfer it to new receivers up to 3 times, even with the transfer fee it's worth it. I already tried to give the PNP2 to my dad and he didn't want it, I did a really good sales pitch too. Now I'll try my father-in-law...

The way to do it is give it to them and let them use it for a few months, I have done that telling them it had three months of service left. Add it as a $6.99 radio, then if they want to keep the radio they can put it in thier name.

I have two buddies that have olds units of mine that I did that way, once you have the service they normally want to keep it.

Ok, so I just checked online again and I think they changed the terms of the lifetime sub again.

Lifetime Subscription: $499.99
Choose a plan for the lifetime of your satellite radio for $499.99 and never get billed again. (Please note: A lifetime subscription plan does not cover the life of a subscriber - it is applicable only to the radio you purchase when you choose this plan.)

I swear it used to say right on the upgrade page that it was transferrable to 3 radios @ $75 per transfer. am i going crazy?
