This has been discussed extensively, but just so you know... I heard a caller on the Stern show recently ask the man himself about this. He said it's in the works, the issue they're dealing with is finding a way to stream the show with decent quality audio but allowing enough bandwidth so that when all of stern's fans log on at the same time, it doesn't crash and burn or have dropouts. He said it should be coming "very soon," whatever that means.

Maybe Mel will have some information about this tomorrow. It would make many Stern fans VERY happy.

I would be surprised if Mel says anything about that on the call. This will be about Q4 performance and 2006 projections....

There has probably been a holdup having the circuit installed to support all the bandwidth.....

A streaming stern show and a 3PM replay would be perfect for me

They address streaming Stern if you call the Sirius customer service #. It's in their automated response. No real information, just that they are currently working hard on it.

I know what you mean. West coaster's get the benefit of a decent hour replay time (Eastern 9-2 is their 6-11pm). We Easterners have to get up before the chickens, or stay up with the owls to get the show.

I'm also thinking a podcast would be EXCELLENT! I'd have to listen a day behind, but at least I could hear a complete show for once.

From a business aspect of Sirius, you would want to have people going out and buying a radio, and having a subscription, at least in my opinion.

If you go to the Howard page on Sirius.com you can enter your email and they will let you know as soon as it is announced. It is definitely in the works.

WHy on earth do people think you can get the streaming without buying a radio......

What don't you people understand?

Here's the process for the newbies:

1. Buy a radio
2. Pay for it
3. THEN you get your password for streaming

= Must buy a radio to get streaming

Simmer down there homie. You know that XM has a service where you can just buy online streaming, without buying a radio you know.

Actually, more than one computer can be logged in to listen to online streaming on the same account at the same time with the same password and username. At least you could last time I tried. If this is still the case, Sirius could stand to lose money because Stern fans with a subscription could lend their username and password to others who do not subscribe to Sirius, and those people could listen in for free at the same time as the subscriber.

Yes, but I understand there's presently a limit of five simultaneous logins. And they'd have to allow at least two, because of folks that are paying for two subscriptions. I don't know if anyone has more than two subs on one account. They possibly allow five simply due to the inability to clear your login fast enough from the server (that is, you login and listen, then logout and there's some delay at their end in purging you from the server.). You'd be pretty pissed if you logged out, logged back in five minutes later and the server said "Sorry, you are already logged in."
