Post Baltimore Reception Problems!

Does anyone have Sirius who lives in Baltimore? I have noticed for the past 2 days the reception has been horrible. I have a boombox and usually have no problems inside my office due to the repeaters in the area. However for the past two days it cuts in and out and keeps trying to get a signal. The same happens when I’m in the car but then we I get out of the city it works fine. Anyone been having this issue? Thanks

Bobby

Default problems

I can't get the single in my office anymore. This started yesterday morning. The repeater must be down. I usually get 10 bars terrestrial signal at work and 0 satellite. Now I'm showing 3 bars terrestrial. So I can't listen at all.

If this problem isn't rectified I will be cancelling the service. I really only listen at work and in the car.

I drove to Baltimore this summer to see a game at Camden yards. The reception was perfect traveling through NJ, DE, and northern MD. As soon as we were within the Baltimore city limits there was NO reception. From what I remember 88.3 was also transmitting on 88.1 It was very frustrating eventhough it only lasted 5 minutes each way.

I'm not getting any more reception up there too. Since I know where the repeater actually is, I should check it out later today. I think they lowered the wattage.

I came to this board to look for this exact issue. I have been getting awesome reception until yesterday or maybe even late wednesday night and now its just brutal. I live in Pikesville where it is usually great but it has been horrid-please let us know what you find out asap.

It's on top of the Legg Mason building, but the FCC report puts it on Lombard St.

According to sirius tech support, they have had a repeater down in the area since Tuesday-whether this is true I do not know but that is his claim (david thomas was his name btw) and he said they are aware of it and it should be fixed later today...

Just an update-do what you wish with the information...

Default Still having problems (11/3)

As of this morning, it is still having problems.

I live 2 miles from downtown (in Canton) and can barely get enough signal for my home dock to work.

On my drive (into the city then up 83 to Timonium) I get constant drop outs as if the S50 car dock wants to use the Repeater signal MORE than the Satelite signal. Once I get up 83 a bit the Satelite takes over and everything is back to normal.

In addition to being a repeater problem, makes me wonder how the device (in this case an S50) is programmed. You would think if it could NOT get enough of a Terrestrial signal then it would use the Satelite signal which is stronger, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

They said it was just a little maintenance and had to take it down for a couple of days. By the time I got to the Legg Mason building, the repeater was already up. Yup, all's good.

Actually the repeater "drowns" out the satellite signal when you are near the repeater. When you are right next to the repeater you will have zero satellite signal even though you have a perfect view of the sky.

The terrestrial repeaters operate on a different frequency than the satellite, so how is it that the repeater "drowns" out the satellite?
