Default Help ~ Whats On (Channel)

I'm a programmer and trying to write a simple program that loads the current band/title playing on a station. I've written a program using dogstar, But it takes too much bandwith and knocks my connection off..

I'm looking for a site, something like..

http://site.com/siriuswhatsplaying.php?Channel=19

and just reads off the song and band..or something simple like that.

Any ideas?

if I am understanding your post .. you are wanting to write a program that
parses the output from someone elses web server to find the particular
channel you are looking for ???

if that is the case .. the URL realWX provided is the place to start
the output is pretty much as small as you are gonna get and it appears
to be designed to do what you are trying ..

each channel element has the 7 basic data elements and if Sirius is not providing
the data for some segment the blank space is there

so you should be good to go

good luck

..dale

What programming language are you working with?

Eric's stream_ON tracker has the smallest data out there - no markup (no XML.) It’s very lightweight - malleable.

Your best bet may be to write a wrapper around a singleton object that 'consumes' the formatted text from Eric's tracker. Use a background thread to request the tracker about every 10+ seconds (best idea is to contact Eric a.k.a masterej stream_ON - and ask, its his resource.) I wont go into details on how to do it - but the basic idea is to proxy his organic data feed into a singleton object and then use a wrapper object in your program (so as not to block the tracker thread or th UI thread) to poll for the state of the channels (artist / title / etc.) Let us know if you need further assistance with specific issues. Send me an email and I'll send you the source for the most recent release:

Thank you all the help is much apperciated! First off, realWX that's the EXACT thing i was looking for! Thank you!

and to chrome, I had hex'd that program and am currently using the XML file from it to parse the songs, and it's working great. I can only do limited testing of it however, as dialup only goes so far. And i'm writing in in visual basic.

I think i'll rewrite it when i'm bored to accept both the XML document and realWX's link, incase one dies i don't have to put out a new version, as i'm so lazy it'd never get done lol.

thanks everyone, i really do apperciate the help!
